I am scared that I might get disqualified for the image I entered into shapes. What if I took two pictures and cut out something from one picture to add to the other. I have a feeling thats not basic editing and its a good shot, should I just keep it in or does it sound like I may have went against the rules?

Yep - DQ.
You still have time to pull it...
Although, you will only get DQ'd if asked for validation!

That definitely sounds like it's against the rules. Basic means that you have to use one picture and one picture only - which means you can't add elements from other pictures.

It is against the rules don't submit it. Your image has to be one photo. PM me with it and I might be able to help you with how to do something close to it then I won't vote on yours if you get something legal to submit out of it. |

what you have described is not legal in basic editing. As someone else mentioned, you still have time to remove your entry and replace it with one that follows the rules. I strongly urge you to follow that advice. |

I don't think you can do this in Advanced Editing. |

From the Challenge Rules - Basic Editing IV
"Your entry must come from a single photograph, taken during the specified challenge timeframe. You may not combine multiple exposures. You may not post-process your entry from or to include elements of multiple images, graphics or text such as multiple exposures, clip art, computer-rendered images, or elements from other photographs (even those taken during the challenge week). A photograph may only be used in one challenge, even if it is cropped or altered differently to fit another challenge. Duplicate photos will be disqualified. "

Shit, that really sucks....after I did the picture I went back and read the rules and I was a little confused, then I thought maybe I could use it for Username challenge but that has to be basic editing to.....ok whatever, Ill just take it off and add it with the rest of my pics, thanxs though!

That would only be allowed in Expert Editing.

A safe approach is to start from one photo, taken during the challenge submission period. Then, don't do any editing until you go read that you can do it in the rules that apply to that specific challenge, because there are sometimes special additional rules in effect.
If you have any questions about the rules, go to help->contact us and send your question to the Site Council using the second option, marked "DPChallenge - General Inquiry."
You can also read various threads in the forums, but if you want the best answer, ask the SC directly.
