My slave flash trigger has a tripod socket on the bottom and a shoe on the top, so that makes it easy. You will need to get a similar adapter.

That clamp is nice but i already have a tripod with quickrelease sitting down. Can this work. And why do all of these shoes have metal contacts? Dont i risk damaging my flash by making contact with them?

Nikon flashes come with AS-19 stands that work great. Should work with any flash and only $8

not sure about that 1. Does it have a 1/4 thread for tripod connection?

I use the photoflex shoe mount myself. It has the advantage of supporting an umbrella which a plain hot shoe mount, like the one you mentioned, won't do. In my case I pitched that solid metal shot mount and I just use my pc sync to hot shoe adapter in it's place, even when I'm not using the sync cable.

Okay! now i'm lost. If i buy this clamp It wont work with my tripod. I would need a light stand to mount it on. So i'm left with this clamp instead. But my only problem with this is that it cant mount an umbrella and most IMPORTANTLY, if the pins on my flash make contact with the metal plate i see on the clamp, wont that damage the flash?

The first clamp will work fine on a tripod. It comes with a brass adapter that will fit 1/4 and 3/8 in studs. I just unpacked my gear and tried it on a standard bogan tripod with no problems at all.
I cannot answer the question about that metal plate because I always use by sync cord to hot shoe adapter as the base, even when I'm not using a sync cord.

Ditto
Can you post a picture of the bottom of your flash so we can see how it's set-up?

I use a flash mounted to tripod with a clamp like your previous post. Haven't had any problems yet with the pins and the metal connection plate. It will fire the flash though if you slide the flash onto the metal plate after you turn it on! I figure that isn't the best thing for a flash... |

Fires the flash ehh! thats exactly my concern that the contacts are live and I dont want to risk it. Think i'll wait till this nikon mount comes in stock. Its all plastic and i think with good reason.
I'll have to post a pic of the bottom of my PENTAX FLASH when i get home.

I use both the photoflex clamp (well a generic equivalent from Adorama technically) and the Nikon AS-19. I've heard of people putting tape over the metal bracket but with the Nikon stand I've never needed to do that.

Remember that the little metal shoe mount is only a small part of the clamp. The flat shoe mount attaches to a brass post (1/4 20) which then fits into the photoflex clamp. I have 3 of those things that I have just twisted off and discarded. I wouldn't hesitate to just tape over the metal or paint it to isolate the contacts on the flash from being shorted.
If it helps I'll get a snapshoot of the pieces that come with the photoflex clamp later tonight.
