....that will get hammered.
Simply delete the highest, and the lowest score per image.
NOT ALL highest scores.
NOT ALL lowest scores.
If there are five 10's, take away one 10, leaving four 10's.
If there are five 1's take away one one, leaving four 1's.
If 10 is not the highest, then you go to the next highest.
If 1 is not the lowest, then you go to the next lowest.
They do this in gymnastics to keep cheating at bay.
I did not say anything about cheating in the voting by the way, I simply am giving an idea.

It's my understanding that there is already a formula that is designed to "neutralize" rogue voting... It's loosely based on a hybridized formula that takes into account Newtonian physics, Einsteins Theory of Relatively, hair color, and whether or not Slippy's router is working.
It has worked in the past... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Wouldn't it be the same score you had? |

so instead of giving out a 10 vote to his own submission, someone would have to give himself more than that to make it count, right? |

If 3s and 4s are the new 1s, not sure anything can be done :( |

this reminds me of antivirus VS virus battles.
in the end, the end users takes the toll, be it system resources, or learning to counter the new creative tricks of the virus writers. |

Sad, isn't it. Horse's idea has merit, my husband and I have discussed very similar theories, but yeah, folk who want to cheat (or whatever) will just move their votes up or down one on the scale. |

I am thinking, when working with a really small number of votes, this method works very well. However, when you get into the higher numbers such as here, the change of added a 10 to an image may only be a .01 increase if you are lucky.
It's a good idea... just not for high numbers of votes.

I might be mistaken, but this has been discussed and turned down like 750 times. It would be like making the scale shorter. No real effect. IMO the only way to counter poor voting practices is to promote lots of outside voters. If you had say 1500 votes on an image instead of 200 you would have more accurate results. |

I privately asked about this about 5 months ago. I think SC was glad it wasn't public so this wouldn't be discussion 751 on the topic.
However; I contacted Langdon privately and he gave me permission to show his prototype for monitoring voting at DPC.
[Whisper] So don't tell anyone but you can look at a video of it HERE.
[/Whisper]
Enjoy!
EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot. This is just one vote. All this will be going on for each vote we make!
