I would love to go again but I'm not sure right now since I'll be in St. Paul for the summer. I'll let you guys know when the time gets closer.

Edit to add:
Hopefully this will be after mid June...there is a strong possibility of some new lens purchases at that point.

I'm guessing that we'll end up wanting another sunrise component to this one. Morning is usually the best time for many birds, and probably other types of wildlife as well.

Oh, and breakfast too. I had a greek sausage omelet at Lou Mitchells in Chicago yesterday that nearly stole the GTG show!

I'm free all of June as it stands now and only the 2nd and 4th weekend of July(14th or 28th).

I know that the marsh is able to produce some great sunsets. Have never been out there in the early AM to see what the mornings are like. I would say it is definately the best time for the birds... Only weekend I am booked is Fathers Day. Otherwise my book is open.

Breakfast,, Ironworker can probalby lead us to a good one...

June 23 looks good to me right now. Not sure about July yet.

I found a campground in Beaver Dam. It looks to be about 10 miles from Horicon. That should work out well.

....current time frame seems ok for me.

I don't currently see problems with the date range. I do think we should have a back-up date... in case of "fowl" weather ;-)

I'm game. NstiG8tr there is a campground in Horicon the Lazy Goose. There is also a county park that allows camping, The Ledge park. The Ledge also has Sunset point. There is also a sunset boat tour ($18/person), which is spectacular. The state lands also have some magnificent spots for sunsets.
Sunrise shooting is a bit trickier, most of the high ground is on the east side of the marsh, but I'll start asking about it. We may have to meet up towards Waupun for that. Breakfast is a no brainer, we'll eat at the Backstreet cafe in Mayville. If our house has been painted by the time of the GTG, I'll cook out for either lunch or supper.
I'm out of town & state June 27th-July 7th. I leave again July 14th-22nd. Otherwise I will be around & look forward to this GTG.

Thanks CJ. Nice profile pic BTW. I found those 2 places later on after I had found the one in Beaver Dam. I think the Playful Goose may be the place I choose. I called the lady there today and made a tentative reservation for June 23rd.

How about July 14th for a backup?

The Playful Goose is a nice place. At least it was when I camped there as a kid. That was a long time ago however. I doubt it has changed much.

Rain date plus 7 days, June 30th??
05/21/2007 06:14:56 PM · #21
I won't be around on the 30th. I'll be in Ohio.
05/21/2007 06:23:12 PM · #22
I'll be in Texas on the 30th.

It doesn't bother me if the date and the rain date aren't consecutive weekends. What's the next-best available week in July?
05/21/2007 10:01:36 PM · #24
If you all had a nice weather sealed Nikon like myself you wouldn't need worry about a little rain. lol

the 23rd works for me and the rain date works too whenever that may be.
