Hey do you think this shot would be presented better if i did a crop of just the guitarist?
and also, I think what hurt me in voting was my text, for all you textography gurus, how do you think i should of used text in this?
The artist is Shaun Hlookoff
I recommend listening to "Soldier"

personally, I think the image feels unbalanced ... the guitar player is obviously the main subject ... but then the title is over him ... placing even more emphasis on him ... in this situation, I'd say that cropping out the the other guy would bring it into balance more ...
as for the text ... it's slightly difficult to read ... maybe a different font would help ...
FWIW, I scored this a '6'... |

To me, it's not a terrible crop, the only thing that bothers me is how much it must have hurt when you chopped his feet off.

I think it is always better to have the focal subject looking into the frame instead of out of the frame. Does that make sense?

I agree for dong portraits for the most part, but thats almost impossible to do in a concert when the seats are in the middle of the room and he's always moving around, and also we had a terrible red coloured backlight for this song so i tried to stray away from that (this was in my school theater) |

I find the my eye drawn to the beautifully lit amplifier (box thing) on the lower left, not what you had in mind. I'm not a big fan of "handwriting" fonts as they are hard to read, but this one is not a bad match for the photo. I didn't vote on this challenge. |

I think it's perfect. It has a very 70's, natural live shot appeal. The image tells, as well as any in the Challenge what's inside that CD's package. Nice work. |

Yeah, maybe an 8x12 ratio. As long as you don't chop off at the knees. I also thought it might help to burn the pants a little so that the eye is not drawn out of the image. |

It's a really nice shot and has lots of potential.
I don't know whether or not it's possible, but I think adding a smidgen to the right hand side of the canvas would give it the "breathing room" that I find myself looking for. |
