The entries from the team that you are going agaisnt each week should be non votable, just like your own teams are. Then everyone could give out their regular votes and not worry that that are giving their competetor a high vote. Just my two cents. |

Even if scores are lower than normal, it still all evens out in the end. Nobody has an edge. So what if a 5 wins instead of a 7. It is all for fun anyway. The 5 was still voted the best image. Who cares. Take photos because you love to. Enter the challenges to see what people think, and have your photos viewed. If you feel you are getting slighted then you are looking for too much approval from outside sources. If you like your photo then that is all that matters, and you have nothing to gripe about. Voting has never been foolproof and fair anyway. There has been cheating from the first, and will be till the last. Just relax and enjoy the ride.
I struggled with this lack-of-high-scoreidus myself. Now I am just going to have fun and take whatever score I get. There is nothing at stake anyway.
In defense of the low scores in this challenge, most including mine are not deserving of 6+ scores. There are a few gems that I bet end up at 7+, and a whole lot of 4's and 5's in there. Just keeping it real.

Heyyyyy, now that's an interesting idea. Not because I think people are voting lower on every entry just to hit their competition, but because it'll address the perception that people are.
And then we won't need threads like this, insinuations, concerns, suggestions, hints, innuendos, etc.
So yeah, I'd support it!

You are not supposed to know what your opposition has entered anyway. If you vote down every image in hopes that you vote down your opponent, it will show up in your average vote stats, and we can then all call you a troll loser. |

Boomtap, just in case "you" in your post means me, I ain't the one saying anyone's voting lower at all. If you didn't mean me, then great. :)

Why would it matter if you knew what your opposition has entered after the voting has started anyways? You will find out out eventually anyways once voting is over, and if you can't vote on their entries, I don't see a problem. |

I'm with bootmap on that one. There is no need to hide your opponents pictures. You can't find them in the pack and I love to be able to see more pictures. I like challenges when I get to vote on every pictures and when at the end I remember the pictures I voted for when I look at the results. Peoples just have to get mature enough if DPL has a real impact on the vote (My point of view is that it has no impact on the voting). You can't take votes after a few hours and extrapolate saying that everything is going wrong. |

Only if your name is noisemaker do you need something to whine about. |

Very good idea, IMO. Makes everybody vote without any kind of pression or temptation :-)

I agree that it's way too early for arm waving over DPL. With 72 teams, that's over 500 people who are encouraged to enter every challenge... sometimes with photos that they wouldn't otherwise submit. There have already been a number of self-DQ requests. The people posting in the scores thread represent only a small fraction of the total entries, and I'm sure we'll have plenty of 6-7+ scores when the challenge is over.
Selective Desaturation is not very popular around here (most of my team expressed disappointment when the topic was announced). It's both easy to do and easy to do badly, and not every photo benefits from the technique. My entry in the first Selective Desaturation challenge was one of my lowest scores ever, and I wasn't new to DPC or Photoshop at the time. DPL or no DPL, this is a relatively difficult challenge and the scores will reflect that. |
