Well, perhaps it'll be a minor inspiration for those you you dpcers who have an average in the 5.3ish range like I do.
This shot of mine, which I originally took for the black and white portrait challenge, won 2nd place black and white in the yearly amateur photo contest that the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal runs (open to
Wisconsin residents).
I got 150 bucks from it (which pays for half of the camera I just bought) and I got that picture printed in thousands of papers throughout Milwaukee in Wednesday's paper.
So for those of you who are mildly discouraged by the fact that shots you really like don't even crack the top 20% of dpc, it's good to remember that competition at dpc is pretty intense with a lot of very skilled photographers participating. And it's good to remember that there is life outside of dpc. = )

Greetings to Wingy and other DPC'ers,
Very well put Wingy, I too have have limited success here on DPC but have had some of my work used by the local paper, the statewide paper and on the statewide tv station, all while maintaining a 4.7771 avg here so keep on pluggin away at it, as long as your happy with what your doing, nothing else matters.

Of all the instances where DPCers have had a challenge entry published or picked as a winner in another contest, I personally can't think of any which were winners here. Congratulations for keeping up this encouraging trend!

Well, isn't this an old thread resurrected?
