Hello,

I am a member of the "OTHER" photo awards website. I will not name it at this time because I am under threat of being kicked off the site.

Why? I had to start voting and commenting with a "bag head" because a few of the users would get insulted when you put constructive critique in your comments.

I got an email today asking me to stop posting comments that don't relate to the shots in question. RIDICULOUS !

Here is a thread of comments from one such picture. I removed the photographers name and the type of animal in the shot because he is a member of this site also. He also posts on this site comments that do not offer constructive critique but ridicule the "place where the shot was taken" or other off the cuff remarks.

Here is the photo thread that started it. You tell me who was out of line. The earliest comments are at the bottom. The more recent at the top of the post:

Ok Sir, I am done with you! You ask for my comments and I give you constructive replies and what do I get? I get told to "grow-up".

I will continue to vote and reserve 7+ marks for what I feel are 7+ marks. Please do not ask for my comments if I happen to vote on any of your shots....GOODBYE !

Hey Beavis, in the wild you will never see a GOAT at sunrise nor at sunset. It's a predator avoidance thing. Grow up! Go to a zoo! You'll get some great shots there! Or, you can go to DPChallenge and look at the wildlife challenge images. See all the wild tigers people found in their "wilderness".

Nice composition. Couldn't go above 7 because it seems the lighting is harsh on the faces of the subjects. Maybe a better shot if the sun were setting or rising?

Seems odd to me you'd be kicked off for not knowing the habits of a goat. Is there more to this you haven't posted that is the subject of you being possibly kicked off the site? Last time someone mentioned something like this they forgot to include little details like flaming everyone in threads prior to them getting booted.

I know who you're talking about, and I've seen the shot and the exchange in the comments, as well as discussion in the threads. Just go with the anonymity thing, comment as you like, and ignore his responses.

But it happened months ago. What do you gain by bringing it up again or by moving the whole thing here?

By the way, there are many other awards sites, not just one. I'm on two or three besides DPC and that one, for instance.

My OP does not mention the exact action I commited:

It said: I have noticed anonymous comments left on winning images that do not have the intent of providing constructive or supportive information to either the photographer or the community. It said that I am being monitored and will be removed if I continue .....

THE ONLY UNRELATED COMMENTS WAS ON A PICTURE OF A CAMEL. The comment was in reply of a long thread of BS between members....my comment was "Did you know that CAMEL tastes like chicken".

But...I received the EMAIL TODAY....the comments I posted were only the tip of the iceburg and the first exchange. When I comment on that users shots...I get hammered by him/her VERY OFTEN.

And...I dug it up to blow off steam! I purposly changed ALL aspects of the ID of the site, pictures, and even the types of animals involved as to not start a war on this site!

I also know who you are talking about. I am actually familiar with the thread you posted, as I commented about his comments to you. I participate on both sites, but prefer this one for the professionalism it offers, and the better pics and photographers. I also have battled with this person, on his pics and on subjects in the forum at that site. He is an ego-maniac, and douses out the criticism, pretty rude for the most part, on this site and that one, but does not take it very well. While I will admit some of his pics are fine, most are average. I will not be participating on that site for much longer, and after hearing you were threatened by the admin, would never ever join it as a paying member. The reason that site has so few members is because of the blatant cheating and favoritism there, and because of the unprofessional attitudes. This fellow you are speaking of has a huge following there, and you will never win a disagreement with him, as his friends chime in against you. It seems now that the admin. there is also a friend, which means you will never win. Was any action presented to him for his personal attacks towards you? If not, I would probably either stop voting, or quit it altogether. As for the person we are speaking of, if he recognizes himself in this thread, learn to take what you dish, or stop bothering others by leaving here. If you start this here, I will inform the admin asap, and ask for you to be banned or suspended. Good luck dude, I don't think you will win this one at that other site. I am pretty sure you will be safe from that here, though. I would hope others here would not tolerate this too.

I have found a thread posted by this ego guy to a NEW member on DPChallenge. This was totally uncalled for, and I hope the admin at DP will address this with the ego guy. I pasted the thread here, removing names and pics, for all to see. I hope someone will stop this guy before he ruins this site and runs people off. This is a nice professional site, and I would hate to see myself and others leave here because of this kind of thing. I pray the admin will investigate before he comments on my pics, as I am not going to be so polite and understanding with my response. Good luck kenskid, and thanks for the heads up. I went to the users profile, checked you, and your comments have been mostly inline. I went to the ego guys profile, and his comments, many of them, are unbelieveable. Thanks for the warning and good luck here and on the other site.

The admin did email me again after I replied with "my" complaints. The admin said he spoke with the other party also about not "debating" in the "photo section" of the site. Seems like we may work this out.

I still feel that I cannot comment on any of that member's pictures for fear of being "jumped on" by him.

guys, this is coming from karmat the member, not karmat the SC user, so take it for what it is worth to you.

I am very uncomfortable with the nature of this thread. If you want to vent about your frustration of the other site, fine, but leave the "people" out of it. Don't be bringing the "trash" from there here. Heavens know we have enough arguing and interpersonal conflict here, without dealing with other sites' as well. If the "people" involved here are also members here, but you haven't had problems with them here, then why bring it? If you have had problems with it, and it is severe enough to affect the whole site, please send a ticket and let the SC do their job.

This thread could quickly become a "who is it, let's find them and out them," thread and before you know it, art has the torches flamed and ready to go.

I understand your frustration. Really, I do. BUT, there are a couple of posts (not yours) in here that are a little misleading as to who is being discussed. That could get ugly. :) (again, still as member, not as SC)

karmat, we are in here because this is the general discussion forum. I do believe we have this forum to discuss things in general. I am sorry you are feeling uncomfortable, but the reason for this forum is for general discussion. There are other threads if you find this one not to your liking. I am not trying to be rude, just explanatory of the thread here.

In your post, you string quotes from several different people. After reading your post, I clicked a few times and thought I knew who you were talking about, and quite frankly, I was baffled because it didn't "fit" what I know about this member. Now, if that was the conclusion I drew, I am quite sure that others could draw the same opinion, and it would be very, very hurtful to the member that I thought it was.

So, please, when you are presenting "evidence" please make sure that it is crystal clear, and others are not mislead.
