This has probably been done at one time or another, but I just got a link to this through a friend and figured I'd start a DPC map. If anyone is interested, add yourself...

Been done at least a half-dozen times that I can remember, but always fun. I added a pin.

Strange, it placed my marker right on top of DanCottle's, but I am about 35 miles south of him. It appears that I am stuck up there in Clarks Summit with him. There is no way I can edit my location.

DPC should integrate something like this right into their site. I know, from recent experience, that trying to organize a GTG is trying. To know how many people are around you and where a good central point might be would be helpful.

Canada's in the house!

I found the older thread like this but the link doesn't work anymore so I added myself here.

I found it kind of interesting how the US has most of the dots right now even though it is almost midnight on the east coast but over where it is daytime there aren't many shown. Everyone must be working...I should try that, I am AT work after all lol.

Most people in Europe will be sound asleep - it is 4.30 in the morning here in England; the damn cat woke me up and I can't get back to sleep.

Mmmmmm. I love Penticton. I'm in Kelowna this coming weekend and I can hardly wait. Nope. I actually can't wait at all!

Princeton, not penticton. Penticton has some semblance of civilization, at least :-P. Princeton is 2 hours west and real quiet...

Very photogenic though, I've gotten some good stuff already in the short time I've been here. Just wait until I figure out the light in the morn/evening...

FYI - older thread

isn't there a Google Map feature that will do this?
05/14/2007 11:12:27 AM · #19
Tried to enter St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, got this message:

"address cannot be found".

Just tried Newfoundland, Canada, got the same message.

I have tried to add myself to various maps in the past and always get the same error. It REALLY annoys me that map makers cannot spell St. John's correctly or even know where Newfoundland is.

I must be doing something wrong...
I tried the town I live in plus Canada... wouldn't work.
Then I tried Ottawa, Ontario, Canada...nothing.
Then I tried Ontario, Canada, nothing.
Then I tried Canada... seems that doesn't work either.

Anyways... if you really want to reach me, PM me and I will let you know exactly where I am.

Well, I am the first from South America, although it placed the marker about 2000km west of where the real town is... no idea why. Clearly there are a few more kinks to work out of the system.

Anyhow... Viva Brasil!

Tchau:)

added mine too!!! I too agree, I think we should have a feature like this into the DPC, this would help to know who is around you rather then go and do a search.

corrected typo!!!

First you would have to get a map that recognizes Canada!
