Has anyone heard of "Not Your Normal Photography"? I came across their mini-course the other day and it's a pretty good read. Of course they have a more "complete" course for either 500 or 1000 bucks.

So far it's been a good marketing/style/business read and best of all, this part is free.

So, what, if anything, does anyone know about them?

IMHO that website screams 'sketchy' or 'scam', although I didn't really look very hard....Other's oppinions may vary.

ETA: Although maybe they just don't have a very good sense of design

I doubt it's just bad design. Anything that claims to have the "secret to making money" is usually a scam.

Scam as far as I am concerned

anyone who tells me how I can make easy money is trying to fool me and is after my hard earned money :D

ditto...scam. This reminds me of one of my friends telling me (in all seriousness) that I could save so much money...but I had to spend $700 first.

for the record, I'm half way through their free course and while yes, the intent is to get you to enroll in the full program, it's a pretty comprehensive thing.
There has been no bait and switch from them or spam (yet) and their "secret" is some straightforward marketing tips and some pretty good business sense.

I can certainly tell you it's not a scam and for those of you that peaked and made a snap decision, shame on you! Really, in all lightheartedness, don't be so skeptical. Yes it's the www, but not everyone is out to pull scams.

At any rate, what I really want to know is if anyone KNOWS anything about them.

And as far as making "easy money", isn't that what getting paid for your hobby really is?

If I knew how to make tons of money by doing nothing............I wouldn't tell anyone cause they would cut into my business.

I agree not everyone is out to pull scams. If the book said something like "Moving from a hobby to a successful business" I would understand, but something like "Make tons of money on a weekend" is probably a scam.

So then nobody has actually looked beyond that then I take it. Here's the preview e-book that came along with the 6 free lessons.

Seriously, if someone actually KNOWS something about them, I'd like to know what you think/thought. If you've never heard of them, please take a few MORE minutes to read past the first few sentances and understand it's not a scam or get rich quick scheme. I was skeptical at first too and gave them a temporary email addy but I'm glad I did, so far. And that's where I am, wanting to know a bit more about them from a third party that KNOWS something about it.

No more instant opinions, kay? They're too obvious.

I'm afraid I don't know much more about them than you do. I signed up for the free e-course over a year ago. They give you enough information to make it interesting, but leave enough out to make you curious about the real course.

Since then, I haven't really received any other emails, or if I did, they weren't worth saving and I don't believe I've received any spam from them either. I'm not interested in the paid course, but I found the freebie course somewhat informative.

That's the extent of my experience with them.

Thanks Bill. That's rather what I've thought to this point. They give enough info to either make you need to have the rest, or like me, enough to figure it out on your own.

Honestly..I think anyone can learn without paying for it. There is so much on the internet that deals with photography and business. Even the library can get you what you need. Just takes a little more time but to me it is better than spending that much.
