This is a tougher challenge topic than one may think, as witnessed by the low number of entries. The low number of entries also gives the illusion that there are fewer good shots than normal. I beg to differ on this, as I just finished voting and my average score is only a couple of tenths lower than my average score given on the landscape challenge.

Wow, looks like I'm going to have a brand new personal worst with this one! I'm holding the rest of you guys accountable, though. I think the pictures in this challenge as a whole are a lot better than usual... normally I can flip through and pick 4 or 5 that I KNOW are worse than mine and I couldn't do that this time.

It was a diffucult challenge , and i agreee there are a LOT of photos that dont meet the challenge topic. However, abysmal is a bit harsh i think, and a little insulting.
Yeah, there werent super landscapes, and heavily edited fake looking skies...but at a cultural event, usually, its a situation where there a lot of people and maybe less of beautiful horizons.

And just how well is your superb entry in this challenge doing? Didn't enter one? Why not? Topic to challenging to find a subject that wasn't abysmal? Just asking.

| Don't know if this adds any value to the conversation - but I only vote on challenges I enter - It prevents me from "blowing my nose" onto somebody else's entry. And gives me more understanding of what it took from the participants! |

Whether or not I entered has nothing to do with the fact that these were probably the worst collection of images I have voted on. It has nothing to do with encouragement either BeeCee. I am just stating the fact. I think some of us should really think about NOT entering sometimes rather than entering for the sake of it.
Incidentally I did not enter and that doesn't change my opinion...
And, finally, I have also made comments on forums to say how great a challenge was and how high in quality the images were on more occasions than when I have been negative.
I just honestly think the stats will prove that this was the poorest challenge for a long time.
I am not a negative person, but sometimes we have to lift our game. I vote on almost every challenge and have left almost 14000 comments, so when I come across a poor challenge and image after image is poor, I can vent my frustration...sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't my intention. |
