You bet! I'll post them here later, after more people have had a chance to give them a try.

Okay, we have a 90% guess so here are all of the correct answersDon't read these if you want to test yourself first!:

1. B

2= None of the Above*
3= A
4= C

6= Ummm, pass.
7= A
8= B
9= D
10=C

* An 8x exposure difference is three stops. Starting with 1/2 second at f/32, you'd need 1/2 second at f/11, or 1 second at f/16... none of the answers seem to fit. Unless it is a trick question and 8x isn't really 8x for B+W film :-P

I agree with kirbic here (8X is 3 stops). None of the answers provided three stops more light.

Here are my answers:
1 B
2 ?
3 D
4 A
5 D
6 C
7 A
8 B
9 C
10 A

So... #2.. D is 3 stops faster, but that doesn't make any sense... Can anyone explain that?

But...D. 1/4 second at f/16 is only twice the exposure of 1/2 second at f/32 (two f-stops but half the shutter duration)...how can that be right?

Why's everyone hating on f/22... is that not a stop between 16 and 32?

I agree the exposure question seems strange, unless there is something counterintuitive about "filter ratings".

I just don't understand why you'd *reduce* the exposure time when adding a filter?

About question 2, I think that when you double the f-number, you go two stops, not 1.

A full stop in f-number means multiplying the number by 1.4 (the square root of 2) because you're increasing area.

Thus, F/1->F1.4 is one stop. F/16-F/22 is also one stop, or a halving of the light, and F/22->F/32 is another stop, or another halving of the light, so F/16->F/32 gives you two stops, or one quarter of the light.

That is, doubling or halving the shutter speed changes the light by a factor of 2, but doubling or halving the F/stop changes the light by a factor of 4.

So Kirbic's right - the right answer isn't there.

Assuming that the question is asking you to produce 8 times as much light, that would be 3 stops. Any of these would work beginning from 1/2, F/32:
4, F/32
2, F/22
1, F/16
1/2, F/11
1/4, F/8

Hey Levyj413, not necessarily true. Example: F2 to 2.8 is a full stop. It has to do with the ratio.

Correct. And when you go from F/2 to F/4 you go two stops. F/2.8 to F/5.6 is also two stops.

I said "double the F-number" not "double the amount of light."

I had 60% right.
The thing is I got all the calculation/math and color questions right.
I missed all the lighting (studio) stuff. Oh well, now I know where I need to brush up.

Yes, #2 is 3 stops. I am pretty sure f22 is a full stop from f16.

Exactly, because 16*1.4=22 (rounded to a whole number)
