Fantastic idea!
I have written some comments recently, but fairly short and sweet and without knowing about this competition. Nothing that merits a win or anything.
But I did put through a donation to sponsor you, Terry. I didn't know if you wanted it for the first (April) even (that you did recently) or the next event (in October) so I put it against the next one which has less sponsorship so far.

Good luck with the fundraiser! My wife has MS, so I just did the 1-day MS Walk a couple of weeks ago. Several Team Suck members donated, including me, so I don't know whether we'll chip in for this, too.
But I hope lots of people pile onto your idea! |

I would love to get informational emails on things like this. Is there a way to do that? I don't get in here reading the forums all too often and I miss so many of these things.
It's a great Idea Terry!
Cheers and much success to you for your efforts!

Hi Jeffrey!
I aware that Team Suck supported you for the "classic" MS Walk, and that's wonderful!
Since the Challenge Walk is in October, I'm hopeful that some of the people who contributed in April, as well as possibly some who missed that opportunity, may want to contribute again as the deadline draws near. If you'd like to post a heads-up as the deadline draws near, I'd certainly welcome that. Either way, I truly appreciate their support of the cause and of your efforts!
Thanks,
Terry

Great question!
Comments for a Cure is not an official DPC Event, but rather a Community Project, which means that I'm running it as an individual, and not in my capacity as Site Council.
As a matter of practice, DPC has not used the weekly newsletter to advertise non-DPC activities such as this, as it presents some oversight responsibility that we simply don't have the ability to tackle.
This is not to say that DPChallenge does not support this type of activity -- quite the opposite, in fact. For example, scalvert designed the logo I am using for this contest (and for the MS Photo Tournament), and Langdon has agreed to generate the report necessary for the 100 random comments to be judged. Several individual members of Site Council have donated time and money as well.

I received this comment tonight:
i think you have been taking some great shots in this side challenge, but this one knocks them all into a cocked hat..Stunning backdrop which the foreground adds to magnificently especially in the B&W medium.. My bet is that this picture would be better than anything that came out of the shop that it captures
Openning the thumbnail gave me a wonderful 'wow' moment
Fantastic! Thank you

Yep, quite possibly! I also want to clarify that there's no group decision-making on this. I should've said "people might not" as opposed to "we might not."
Do you have a personal connection to MS?

I do. One of my best friends and fellow DPCer BAMartin has MS. I started walking for her in 2002. Along the way (literally -- on the 2004 Challenge Walk!) I met another friend, Pam Gifford, who also has MS. I have walked in the Challenge Walk as part of her team, Pam's Posse, since 2005, For the one-day MS Walk in the spring, I am also co-captain of the team for my employer, Fulton Bank.

When is your Spring walk, ClubJuggle?
Oh, Okay, I see it was in April, but that you are accepting donations
for your next one in October.
Keep walking, Terry!

Hey, cool - good job! Eventually, when our kids are older, I plan to take them on the 3-day.

Which 3-day, DC?
The Philadelphia walk is in October, the weather is a bit cooler then... great walking temperatures, usually!

Correct, the spring walk was in April.
Since there is a minimum fundraising commitment of $1,500 for the Challenge Walk, I typically focus my fundraising activities on that event. My efforts for the spring walk focus on organizing a team of walkers and assisting them with their fundraising.

This is a great idea, and I thibk you know that I am always commenting on so many DPC image since joining DPC.
By the way, have you noticed how much the comments have more than doubled since this thread was started.
One only has to go to the "Photos" on the top tab bar, and then to the "Browse" section, to see just how many images have been commented on lately.....
Definately more than double, thats for sure..... Well done...... |

Awesome, that's great news! After last night's rollover, we also managed to clear the Critique Club queue in a day! Of course, we get to start over again in about 10 minutes...
Now all we need is for some of the people receiving comments to make a donation to say thanks!

Let's share those great comments! Surely someone got a comment they'd like to thank someone for? If so, then please post it here. :)

$135 so far... or 5% of my total fundraising goal.
Thanks to sfalice, suemack, Matthew and Kavey for their donations so far!

The one I'd nominate is on a photo still in the voting stage ... I'll try to remember to put it here tomorrow. |

I'd like to see this go a bit faster. I'm going to up my donation to $4 for each day the queue is zero. |

Great idea all.
It kind of reminds me of the challenge a while back where you could only participate if your comments given was a certain percent over your comments received...which I think we are in need of again. |
