I was doing some downloading while surfing the forums, so my speed was considerably slower than it usually is when Im on dpc..
I noticed something kinda strange, when I clicked on a photo I got 2 variants of the image being displayed..
The first variant was: the image would start appearing sharp from the strat, but would load on my screen on top first then add the lower prtions after.
The Second variant was: the image would appear on screen as a whole image, but blocky at first, then detail was would come after as it loaded..
Like I mentioned before, I was downloading some stuff (using a download accelerator) so the majority of my bandwith was dedicated to that, making web surfer alot slower than usuall, and it was the first time (I think) I saw these 2 different effects.
Has anyone else seen this and know why its different for some images?
Or am I just crazy???

Well.. usually when an image loads in stages (starting with blocky), it's because the person has saved it as a progressive JPEG. So you're probably seeing images people have uploaded here saved as that.
The other type is a regular JPEG.
At least, that's the only explanation I have. |

one image is saved as progressive JPEG, the other is not.
for DPC entries, progressive JPEG is not advised - you'll never know if some impatient voter will vote you low for "blocky" photo!
