I've taken some self portraits for the Trends challenge, but I want to be clear on this before I submit one of the photos.
I had the idea for the shot, I set it up the way I wanted it, I did most of the composition, I ran the shots through photoshop, and I make the choice of which photo to submit. But...
My friend handled the camera, adjusted the composition and made a lot of good suggestions during shooting.
Can it still be considered my photo? |

Unless your friend takes issue with you claiming the photo as your own, I would say it is perfectly acceptable to consider this your photo.
I did the same thing for this shot. I thought of and set up the shot, and took some sample framings, but then had my friend take the actual shot.
When it comes down to it, I think the process as a whole is more important than considering who actually pressed the button.

| If your friend is mainly there to operate the controls, but has a minor role in the concept or framing, then I'd say they are acting in the role of a versatile remote control. If they have significant input into the final composition, then it's a collaboration, but still fine (by me anyway) so long as you don't BOTH submit it as your own. |
