I posted these in the portrait lighting thread but I thought I would also post them here. I would love some C&C.

These are some pics from a impromptu outing the other day.

This one was shot by my Sister.

So, what do you think?

There are so many its hard to digest all at once. As a collection I'd say great job!! I really love the quirkiness of them and the props and compositions appear well thought-out. Individually I'd say you could study the light a bit more. Rather than shoot the scene, shoot the light. If the light is straight onto your model's face, move yourself or move the model until you see a more attractive side-light. Again, impressive collection. You seem to understand portrait processing, but don't let it substitute for the basics. :)

Edit to say: Not all need help - many of these are excellent as they are represented. Didn't want you to misunderstand.

I thought the topic was "Shivving in a field" and expected some prison yard fight pics. :(

I don't know what "skivving" is. I could look it up but then I wouldn't have time to view the images - which I am off doing now...

I take it he means 'Skiving' as in 'goofing off' wasting time enjoyably instead of working . . but I may be wrong.

There are some nice shots and really interesting crops here. my first thought is that you could go for a nice tryptich with some of them.

I probably should have explained what "skivving" means, the model is a friend name Skiv, and when you are goofing off with Skiv its called "skivving".

sorry for posting a large number of pics at once, I wanted to show a variate of pics and settings. I realize that the light isn't great on some of them, however, the sun was setting fast so I didn't have a lot of time to get the light right, there was also a lot of houses and such along one side of the field that I was trying to keep out of the shot.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I really appreciate it.
This was the first time I've ever tried to go out on location and shoot portraits, and it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be,(of course, it doesn't hurt with you have such a fun person to work with) this is definitely something I want to do some more.

Matt

EDIT: sorry of that wasn't very coherent, I have been battling a really unpleasant cold all week.
