I'm not sure if I'm understanding you properly, but I've always liked the look of cafepress's stuff. I've known a few people who have used them and are satisfied (though I've never seen any product up close and personal), and it looks like they recognize transparency, but I imagine you'd still want to mind aliasing. They seem to have a good variety of stuff, and I imagine blank space may allow you to manipulate where stuff shows up.
Prolly not helpful - sorry!

| I've had a lot of clothing printed over the years. I've always used local companies though to get personalized service, greater clothing options, etc. Look under silk screening or a similar term in your local phone book. You'll probably find dozens of companies who can help you. |

Jib,
TechnoShroom's advice is good - I've done some printing as well and that's generally the best route. However, you'll need to ask yourself some questions before starting: 1. How many shirts (or other items of clothing) do I want to print? Most of these screen printers, while offering the best quality, will require you to print in bulk. You can print just a few if you want, but costs go way up. 2. What format is my artwork? If you're thinking of trying to reproduce full colout photographs on a tshirt, most screen printing places either won't be able to do it, or will charge a fortune for it. Your only other real option for this, and it's not a great one, is some kind of heat transfer, and you won't get nearly the durability, quality, or option of placement with this method. It's a different story if your photograph is monochrome, which is much easier to screen print. Similarly, if your artwork is vector based linework, as in Adobe Illustrator, it's really easy. Again, like TechnoShroom said, make some calls and explain what you want to do, and they'll be able to tell you whether it's doable or not, then file formats, placement, etc.
Good luck!

| Jib, how about posting an example of what you want to use, and maybe we can better advise you? :) |

yeah they usually charge PER color screen they need to create so even with just 4 colors you could be looking into the hundreds JUST for setup. Good luck with it, it sure isn't as easy or cheap as you would think. |
