Hoo boy! A whole group of people I can teach PS to so they can make everything look the way I think it should bring their own vision to life!

I would heartily recommend we start with one topic/week. With potentially 11 people's work to look over each week, that's 22 assignments/week. And you'd like us to poke around other threads. To say nothing of voting and commenting. And uh, you know, life in general. ;)

And participants are also going to be pushed to do two things/week.

And I'd like to participate myself in some of the things I don't know very well.

All said, even one/week is going to be a large amount of energy each week.

I assume the sorting was just to break up the list. Any chance we can divide up by experience, so the intermediate and advanced users won't need to spend time on the basics, or would that really mess up your class scheduling ;)

I thought of suggesting this. I don't know how Art set it up, but maybe having people of all experience levels will help/inspire those of us with less experience to see what really can be achieved as we progress with photoshop.

But this class *is* an "entry level" class, after all. The more advanced techniques will, presumably, come in the later sessions that are offered. From what I could tell when this class was first proposed, it's for those that are fairly new to PS.

But then again, it's up to Ken how the class is directed.

Hi ho! (just an expression of the Flanders flavor - not the one that apparently stirs up a lynch mob)

I am back to working on the first topic, but wanted to answer a few of the posts from today:

- One lesson per week was suggested by some wuss (again, not meant as derogatory), so to appease him. ;-P *honestly, an excellent suggestion as I thought later about it*

- Division of groups was randomly randomized in a haphazard, drag & drop sort of non-method. Dividing by experience really won't work for this because the class IS a beginner class and the idea was that all 4 groups would be covering the exact same thing each week. All I can say is that I will put out the schedule and you can jump in and jump out at your heart's desire, but I am also hoping that the more experienced folks help out answering and commenting. That would be what I would call the only price of admission. :)

Thanks for hanging in there and to all who have committed to help mentor. Now hang tight for a few hours and I'LL BE BACK *spoken in Austrian accent*

Because of the number of people who are involved (44, I believe), Art/Ken has closed official participation. He has, however, invited lurking, which is likely to be valuable in its own right.

Wow I didn't even know this was going on, saw that it was closed but I will lurk. I'm using photoshop elements 5. So I will lurk and see if I can find a class that talks about that program.

Yeah this is the first I have seen of this so I will have to be happy with lurking too.

I like your style young Miss, but alas and alack I have nothing that goes quack . . .

I'm also not sure what Mr Peanut is, and chacolate just sort of mysteriously evaporates as quickly as I buy it . .

I've just bought a woody though !! Maybe I can get a Ducky at the week-end . . .

I searched the forums this afternoon to find recommendations for best Photoshop books and/or tutorials, and found this workshop thread instead!

I will also be lurking, which is better for me for several reasons. One, I'm a rank beginner. I've never used Photoshop before, though I have some experience with PSP. I just ordered Photoshop CS3 through my office, so I will not have it for several weeks anyway. And I do not currently have time to commit to weekly assignments anyway. All in all, this saves me from having to begin a "class" that I can't keep up with anyway.

Best wishes to you all, happy studying!
