I just 'finished' some headshots for a paying client (yay!)
I was just hoping for some comments/criticism/suggestions- especially on the PP or color balance (which i had a lot of trouble with this time around).
In fact if you would like to give it a shot - go for it :)

Looking at the second photo, what is that just above his head? It matches his hair color but is too out of place to just be a bad hair day. Maybe you could clone that out? |

hehe, maybe.
This is for a fairly traditional actor headshot.
and yea- that's his hair... I think it's that 'Emo" style... I'll correct it. |

Nick
I do love the crispness you achieved- how'd you do that?
:) |

hehehe, yeah the slight green cast comes from the cross processing. I've toned it down a little in this edit
:)

Just a little unsharp mask and desaturated a tad :)
I think the colours were a little oversaturated, do you have the blending mode set to luminosity if you use curves or levels layers?
: )

Here is my take on fixing the color. It was a tough one for some reason. How is it?

I've gotta be honest, I actually prefer this one as it looks a lot more natural |

mmmmm, he was a delicious one to edit ;p
I think it looks pretty natural, sharpended the irises, lips, eyebrows and jawline. Messed w/the overall color, changed the color of his really pink lips, cleaned up a few red spots on his face, cropped a little, and slight curves. Fin.

I selectively pulled down the reds and yellows. Pulled down the saturation overall. Sharpened a little. added some gaussian blur and erased it around the eyes, nose mouth and lower right jawline.
Could still use some more fine play toemove the oranges around the hairline.
I like what nixter did. It has atittude. Might not be terribly traditional but not far off from what Head shot studying I've done over the last few months.

Sunnie did a good job making the skin tones fairly accurate but I really like what nixter did with the toned down cross process. It really makes the image more striking |

Skin tones are way too red. A WB issue most likely. ALWAYS use custom WB - especially for paying jobs. It makes an image pop a lot more when it's right on.
The eyes look soft in all of them to me- very shallow DOF - what did you focus on? Did you focus and recompose (a BAD thing)? The lips are what's sharp in the first and last one. The middle one is better, but still not razor sharp on the eyes.
Last one has a hair light and that helps - the hair in the middle one blends off into nothingness.
Some may criticize the way you cut off the top of his head in every shot - the eyes are the 1/3 level and you have tilted his head - both good.
The facial lighting is flat but yet the images show drama, so kudos on that.
Upon further examiniation his eye's are white as are his teeth, so it may not be WB issue, just too much red (from PP or camera settings or a warming filter)? perhaps he's just got red skin?

my edit...just hue/sat adjustments, sharpen then a little gaussian blur. i also cloned out the multiple catchlights in the eyes. well, in this pic it was only in one eye.
edit to add...congrats on the paying gig! :)
