Anybody able to link me? Does this still apply with the new rules update?

There is no more existing artwork rule, that went out with the updated rules.

Edited to add this sentence from basic editing rules:

You may include existing images or artwork as part of your composition as long as the entry does not appear to consist entirely of a pre-existing photograph in order to circumvent date or editing rules or fool the voters into thinking you actually captured the original photograph.

"include existing images or artwork as part of your composition as long as the entry does not appear to consist entirely of a pre-existing photograph in order to circumvent date or editing rules or fool the voters into thinking you actually captured the original photograph"

Well, crap, that isn't as straightforward as I had hoped...

A brief explanation of the new artwork rule as I understand it:

If everyone KNOWS it's artwork (an obvious painting, sculpture or illustration), then it's legal... although the voters will probably pummel it. If the artwork appears to be photorealistic and essentially IS the subject of your photo (a picture of a monitor screen or print, with or without trivial added elements), then it's illegal. You can include photo-realistic artwork as part of a greater composition, but you should try to make sure it's used in a "supporting role" along with other important elements.
