I'm back from my little tour: managed only a couple of challenge entries during the trip, but had a reasonably decent time of it. The (rather large) downside was that my beloved 602 was stolen in Milan: the upside of which was that our truck driver had a 602 himself and was willing to lend it to me for the remainder of the tour (unbelievably kind, and trusting).

It's been kind of odd to get such a break from a near obsessive concentration on photography - and it's kind of pleasant to be back.

Fortunately tthe 602 was insured, so hopefully will be replaced (Ijust have to decided whether the Nikon 5400 is now the best value on the market, or whether to stay with the 602).

A selection of shots from the trip are up on this page of my site.

Cheers

Thankyou - maybe I'll have to give up on the chance of overtaking that Dairy queen shot :-)

That was actually taken the day of the NYC GTG - just a little further south.

Can anyone point me at other GTG pictures (just to save me hunting for them?)

Ed, some stunning shots in there. New York 2, 3 & 4, Provincetown 4 and Mystic especially. Great work.

Sorry to hear about the cam, hope you don't decide to defect though!
Who were you touring with?

Welcome HOME!!!
What an excellent collection of pics - sounds like an amazing trip - what was the occasion?

Sorry 'bout the lost camera - can you claim on travel insurance rather than home insurance?

Defect? Well, the 5400 is going to be really tempting ..especially as it looks like being £300 cheaper than the 5700.

Tour was Ryuichi Sakamoto, part of the M2S project he's been involved in the past two years, with Jacques and Paula Morelenbaum ... some info here I've been touring with him when in Europe the last couple of years.

Hope so - got travel insurance with £2000 of business equipment cover specifically for camera and laptop. But I'm expecting them to try and worm out of it :-(
