I will cheer people on.
I just don't see how someone could get creative with Dr. Suess while still keeping the picture an obvious Dr. Suess thing.
Maybe I'm just not creative. |

Well, I don't hear the cheering section....sounds more like a jeering section to me.

It will definitely be a difficult challenge! Maybe even more so for Seuss fans. Ideas on how to overcome that would be welcomed....at least by me.

No, Joe! That's definitely not true! You may not have Scalvert-type creativity...but creativity is not limited to one person. We have a whole week to figure this out. You've got creative language on your side...behind that is a whole battalion of ideas! (<<--blantant use of cheering a fellow competitor on. :-)>>) |

If you have a problem, go to a library and get out: "Mr Brown can moo, can you?" then proceed to read it out LOUD, to yourself, your pet, or preferably either a young child or a silly adult with a sense of humour.
The important part is to read out loud and MEAN it.
I loooooooove that book even though I didn't grow up with Dr Seuss either (in Germany). |

You're partially right...... I'm a German born, mostly Aussie at heart, currently enjoying America, gypsy.
If I keep moving around much longer, I'll be so confused, I won't know anymore if I'm Arthur or Martha, let alone what nationality :-)
But I did embrace the joy of Dr Seuss even though it wasn't even in my mother tongue (just to show that I CAN stay on topic, too LOL) |

True that.
Anbd to be perfectly honest I'm shocked that Dr Seuss hasn't reached every corner of the globe. He's the most famous writer of modern childrens stories ever.
Hey, I grew up in "paradise"*, as one of my friends pointed out. The communist one, behind the iron curtain. We never heard of Dr Seuss. But I still think this is fun and a challenge for us, from the other side, to learn more about the other world. I am not nagging and if I have time I wil do my homework and eventually enter the challenge.
And, yes, it's an American based web site and it is their right to pick any challenge, even 4th of July.
Still a great place here...
Just me 2 pence...
*did I mention it was Romania?

You could always dye the entire egg.
I've done it before to jsut the yolks by injecting them with dye. However, I confess they weren't a nice solid green. They looked rather tye dyed. And some of them did leak.
I predict atleast one sexual shot related to the starbelly sneetches.
The possibilities are endless.
I still don't see how one could be incredibly creative with this without getting DNMC comments.
Nonetheless, I better get to work..
;)

He makes a good point. Up until this month I haven't submitted to anything since nothing has called to me. You don't hear me railing against the Challenge Topics chosen. Submit or don't. That's you choice. If you don't like the Topics submit other ideas.
I hope I don't sound too much like a hard ass. |
As someone probably viewed as "negative" about the challenge all I can say is this: let's all relax, have a beverage of our choosing, and let the discussion carry on as it is not whining but commentary, discussion about something that may or may not make sense to folk.
Or... I agree with biteme :-)
As to sexual innuendo with Dr Seuss... this has totally blown my mind, and not in a good way! Chuckle

I am not the one saying that a Dr. Seuss challenge is unfair for non-Americans. I am just telling you that most people outside of the US, younger than 31 don't have a clue who Seuss is and what he wrote. |
There are always regional advantages/disadvantages. How about that insect challenge last month - where I live it was still 30 degrees Farenheit! Be productive and post your non-america-centric ideas in the Challenge Suggestion Forum, or else we'll be shooting for Pi #3 before long :0 |
