Growth - baby, toddler, adult (or any mix of ages, even with different people) - go to a mall and shoot candids if need be
Love - two hands, kissing, baby (I'd LOVE to see this done, because I planned to do it but now I'm using a different idea) or holding hands, two champagne flutes with a ring in the bottom of one, rice in the air
Eating - whole juicy hamburger, one bite taken out of it, the restaurant check
Vacation- a map, packing the car (luggage sharp in foreground, car blurred in background), two people admiring a sunset/mountain/lake/whatever
Giving someone a nice photo as a gift - studio setup, dark picture of someone hunched over a computer, framed photo
Anything sport-related - one example is showing someone throwing a frisbee, the disc in the air, and someone jumping up to catch it.
Cooking - ingredients laid out in an interesting way, a pan with sizzling oil in it over a flame, a plate with delicious food on it being carried into the dining room (plate sharp in the foreground, dining table with candles, china, and crystal blurred in the background)
Basically, think of something you do or see and break it into three chunks. |
DOOD! ... these are such disgustingly GREAT suggestions ... now I am sad that I am already entered and don't wanna change it as the process is better than the subject ... but man ... thanks for this way of looking at things ... time progression ... I LOVE it !

yipes - If I was gonna do this, I was gonna have one kid smiling, another kid smiling, and to shake things up, one kid frowning....
Must... think... deeeper......

Mine is not at all profound, but it is submitted. Also just submitted my free study. I do not expect it to do well as far as photography/DPC-friendly etc, nor is it out of the box, or edgy. But it's something I've been working on for awhile and I quite enjoyed the process.

My Triptych has a cropping format that is probably gonna be ONE OF A KIND and took a great amount of work to figure out how to do it ... but ... I dunno about the subject matter ...

I have one in free study that I thought turned out really cool. Since I like it, voters will not lol. General rule of thumb for me.

Heh. For all of my ideas about how to tell a story, I'm going with a more staid, visually varying take on a single concept. No real story at all. :)
On my free study, after shooting elements of one idea all week, I suddenly had a vision that I hope, if done right, will provide an emotional punch. The good news is it shouldn't take much to shoot.

Question.
Free Study: traditional and pretty, but unimpressive, or edgy and more unique, but losing a lot of detail in places?

Edgy and more unique would probably be more interesting? Depends how pretty the traditional and pretty one is really. |

details are overrated.

Literally hours of work went into that, and for once I'm really pleased with the outcome. Can't wait to see how well it does. |

Same here, just about wrecked meself getting triptych done. I think it may be too disturbing an idea for most dpcers to get their minds around but if so, so be it...been a long time since I finished in 0%! Do love Don's ideas for triptych though!
Welcome, Sean! Karen nicely re-posted my brownie recipe aorund page 41, go nuts...or not...and I love your winning Neon entry, think I made it a personal fave. If not then must go rectify that immediately.
OK got CD burner now, yayyyy...must buy many cd-rw disks...and start shipping stuff to Alamy...head hurting from all the computer stuff my computer guy and I did today but such is the price of being a technopeasant...
Lea that house you looked at sounds not too unlike some places my bf's brother been looking at lately...keep looking...and don't forget to cheer on the Sens!
Bye all! *off to get a sub then laze all evening* |

I'm in Triptych!
Took my own advice and went shooting with no particular purpose and ended up with some lucky captures and an idea. I like it - may play around with it some more and if I come up with a slightly better presentation swap it out, but what I've got in there now I'm satisfied with.
*yay!* |

Good News. I just received notification that two of my photos have been accepted for the INFOCUS Juried Exhibition at the Palm Beach Photographic Center. They will hang in the center's museum from June 15 to August 4.

Congratulations! They're beautiful pictures too. The butterfly one is just bursting with colour, and the pink leaf one looks so lovely and delicate... |
