With this thing, just about any spot becomes a tripod spot. It weighs a few ounces, is about 12 inches top to bottom, and I basically forget it's in my backpack.
Okay, maybe this particular use wouldn't work with an SLR. :)

I was recently on a little tour and a couple had one hooked to their P&S and said they absolutly loved it. It was so convenient and easy to use, I didn't see it off the camera once. |

Well, according to their website, the Gorillapod SLR-Zoom can hold up to 6.6lbs. My camera with my 70-200 might be to heavy (though they have a photo of what looks like a Canon 70-200L), but would work with my 28-75 or 15-30.

Cool, what do you feed it?
Jokes aside, it looks useful. I use a sand bag, but it isn't as versitile as one of these things would be.
