How does a challenge entry in the Free Study get views when it hasn't gone into voting yet. My entry is sitting at '1' view...and yet last night it had '0' views.

Why?

Wow,it must be really good
04/25/2007 06:23:39 PM · #3
Yep...now has two views....and I know I haven't been looking at it.
04/25/2007 06:27:53 PM · #4
The second view was me.

My best guess is either that you viewed it, a SC or Administrator viewed it, or that someone typed the IMAGE_ID by mistake (in which case they would NOT have been able to view the image, but who knows, it might increment the counter anyway).

Odd.
I tested out the idea of one's self somehow adding to the view tally and uploaded a dummy picture (no, it wasn't a self-portrait either) into a challenge, then viewed it in the submission page, viewed it to see what it would look like in the challenge, refreshed the pages in every manner possible, yet could not add a view to it.

Must have been a ghost.

Thanks Terry...but that leads me to another question. If I didn't view it...why would an SC or admin be viewing it?

No idea... maybe it's just Konador trolling for nudes?

*ducks and runs*

Jokes aside, I don't think anyone on SC had reason to view it, so it could be one of the two other things I mentioned. I'm not sure if or how those numbers are affected by your own views, and how often they update. It does not appear to be in real time.

That view may have logged when you viewed your submission. Did you view your submission?

What I find more interesting is that it appears that each challenge supports up to 9999 entries. Try voting a challenge with that many entries.

As a note: Mine has tildes (is that a word? '~') where hers has average, place and a percentage.

I submitted this image last week....up until last night there were no views. I haven't viewed it since last night and today by chance I noticed on my bio page it had 1 view....Terry has since viewed it and it shows 2 views.

I see tildes as well. I'm using Firefox.

Judi, what browser are you using?

Odd... I wonder why you're seeing numbers there.

EDIT: Langdon's been working on coding for DPL stuff, including some items related to stats. I bet he needed to find someone who had an entry for an upcoming challenge in order to test something -- you're a safe bet for that.

NOTE:I typed this before the edited update above ... : )

I'll lay 3 to 5 odds that Langdon has been "tweaking" or "experimenting" with something, and that it's an unintentional abberation, glitch, bug, error ....

That's 2 to 5 that it wasn't Langdon. Hmmmmmm. The plot thickens.

I don't like those odds. ;)
