I'm up for an outing! Feb is crazy... but let's start a thread for the last weekend in Feb for an outing. That way, everyone has time to plan. What do you think?

Hi Guys,
Just found this thread and I live in LA - I attended a Julia Dean workshop that cost over $700 - I ended up getting my money back it was so bad. Now I do believe that most of the workshops are good but this particular one was awful and I was really looking forward to it. It was with a great guy who does many portraits. To put a long story short the work shop had failed to get shooting permits which of course you need all over LA and so before we even took a frame after traveling and setting up in Malibu we were instantly shut down - So that wasted most of the day. I felt sorry for the teacher who was really embarrassed so I did not turn up for the second day. They have given me full credit so I can attend another work shop this year. I hope to report back a better story. As for shooting in LA - Thats what I do for a living and love it! You can't beat the weather although sometimes I would like a little cloud to do some nice black and whites!
Hello to all

Absolutely... the more the merrier, as long as you're willing to drive.

Excellent. If I'm available whichever weekend is chosen, I'll try to make it.

Well, it doesn't look like we got an outing off the ground in February. Is there any interest in an L.A. GTG? I feel like I'm languishing here and I need to get out with my camera soon!

I'm in, depending on the date.

I don't have any set dates in mind... Weekends are obviously best. If you have any particular dates that work for you, let me know. I feel like I just need to get out and shoot. I have been in a real non-photography rut lately.

Any particular type of location in mind? I'm open for anything at this point. I will be going down into Baja on the weekend of 4/21 and 4/22 just to get away, but I plan on doing some shooting down there as well.

It seems that the LA DPC group hasn't been as active this year. Anyone else up to a GTG?

If it's within the next month to six weeks, then Sunday's work better for me. After then, possibly either Saturdays or Sundays.

Have you heard or been PM'ed by any other Angelinos or OC'ers? Keep me posted! escapetooz is a local LA member, H700256 is from the OC, as is spiderman, Zippy, ralfw, and ShutterHack.

We had a group that did semi-regular (monthly or so) outings. It included mirdonamy, qmdi (now in Colorado), MrAkamai and yido. I know there are others from the area that have expressed interest.

I'm willing to head down to OC as well as LA. If you have any interesting locations you would like to check out down your way, I;m game!

Hi Guys,

I am in the LA area and would be interested in joining you for a GTG. It depends on what weekend, as I am also a student and have to work my social life / photography around my exam schedule.

I don't know what kind of photos you are interested in taking, but the botanical gardens should have nice spring blooms now, so Descanso Gardens, LA Botanical, Huntington Library etc. would be great spring GTG sites.

Great Catherine!

Would love to have you as well. The more the merrier! I haven't been to Descanso or LA Botanical (unless that is the same as the L.A. Arboretum in Arcadia). Huntington is nice as is the Japanese Gardens (much smaller) in the Sepulveda Basin.

OK, that's at least three people. Should we set a date? I could probably swing April 8, 15 or 29 (Sundays per lesgainous. I figure later in April is better so that we can get more people to join in and pick locations.

April 8th is Easter Sunday, so that probably isn't a good one to pick!

LAShooters will be having a meeting at Carlsbad Flower Fields on April 7th, Sat.

Hi everyone!

Wow, this thread is STILL going! I'm sorta back from a multimonth hiatus from DPC and am thinking about re-joining as a member so I can do all the cool challenges. Still going to school so that presents its regular problems like running out of time etc but I'd love to get back into DPC meets again. I think the last meet I attended was at the LA zoo eons ago. Anyway, can't wait to meet all the new people we've picked up since I last was on the forums!

Wow, welcome back Greg! Yeh, I know, I'm not new, just one of the old farts! Good to see you around again!

Ok,
Here are the shots from the 7th at Carlsbad.
This is a large flower field that is open to the public in the spring, in northern part of San Diego County. I'm not a big flower guy but thought I'd give some of this stuff a try as LAShooters had our semi monthly event here.
C/C welcome

OK, well, it looks like my weekend in Baja isn't going to happen. Is anyone up for a GTG this weekend? I'm OK with either Saturday April 21 or Sunday, April 22. I haven't really done much shooting lately, so I am itching to get out!
