Hey, well i'm leaving tomorrow morning bright and early, i know i already asked awhile back but i'm asking once again just incase anyone can think of anywhere else to go while i'm there, i'm staying in Anahiem. What were thinking so far is:

Disneyland
long beach
the Hollywood sign
San Diego Zoo
Santa Monica Pier
Wild Animal Park
Sea World
Possibly a Harbor Tour

Where also conaidering taking a day trip up to Yosemite though im not 100% sure on just how far it is, it might not be worth the long drive.

Where going for 10 days so we'll see how much of this we can cram in lol

Thoughts?

Yosemite is about a 5-6 hour drive - one way from LA (300 miles). It is the most amazing place - I would rather spend a few days in Yosemite than probably anywhere else in the world.

Go see a movie at the Mann Chinese Theatre, the architecture inside is truly amazing.

There's a bus tour through the valley but IMO you're better off getting a map and going it on your own. A good day hike is going to the top of Yosemite Falls - gorgeous views there.

unless you plan on spending the night I wouldn't try the Yosimite thing. It's a big place and there's so much to see, you'll need more time.

There's always San Diego if you really get bored:
<---link to "Post Card shots" folder of San Diego---
A day spend going down the coast from Del Mar is always a treat. La Jolla can be a half a day in itself. The Wild Animal park is worthy of a visit if time permits, probably more so than the Zoo, and if visiting the Zoo, do take an extra day to wander through Balboa Park - no trip to San Diego should be without it.

Did you get the ID I suggested yet? :)

Catalina Island is an interesting day trip if you're into outdoor activities. Snorkeling, sailing, submarine rides, hiking, buffalo, etc. I spent several summers working on the island. Really has a lot to offer if you're interested in those sorts of things.

Santa Anita Racetrack is an interesting stop if you've never been to a horse track before.

As long as you're going to Santa Monica Pier you'll want to drive south down to Venice Beach just to see the freaks and to say you've been there.

Yea, Yosemite is more like 7 hours from where you are I'd think, I sitll haven't had the chance to go. Perhaps Joshua Tree instead? It's closer, without traffic it's probably more like 3 1/2 hours. It's pretty epic in it's own way and there are trails that take you to cave drawings and stuff! Get some gloves with the sticky stuff on the palms and you can climb up the rocks like an expert. I am a wimply Florida (flat land!) girl and I was climbing all kinds of stuff. If you go before traffic the drive wouldn't be too bad. There are a couple photos from there in my portfolio and plenty on the internet. Search for the Wonderland of Rocks.

A web site!

I found an image of the same truck I used for a free study! lol

Then she would have flipped at 10 hours, the round trip driving time.

Since you're going with your parents they might enjoy a side trip to Palm Springs. The Palm Springs Aerial Tram is interesting.

The Getty Museum is really close.

Yosemite is *way* too far from LA for a day trip. You want some time to actually see the park, not just drive up, look at half dome, and drive back. There are a lot more productive ways to spend your time.

Brad's right about San Diego, there's lots of interesting things to see and do. Also, this is a great time to go to the desert. We had rain last week, so there's probably some wildflowers blooming. Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, Palm Springs, places like that. You could take the Palm Springs aerial tram runs from the desert floor up to the top of the mountain. Some great views and some nice hiking at the top.

edit: 5 minutes too late on the Palm Springs tram thing....

btw, my experience with Yosemite is that it's only 5 hours away from LA if you're driving like a bat out of hell. The last time we went, we got caught in traffic on the way home, and it took 12 hours to get from Yosemite to LA.

San Diego is doable as a day trip (2-3 hours each way, depending on what part of LA you're in), but it also works better as an overnight trip.

San Diego is quite a treck too though! I dunno. I'd rather go to Yosemite than the zoo any day.

You should come by my house...then I can take you over to meet Brad Petersen and you can see his INCREDIBLE photos he has on his computer at work. While your there you can get an oil change and a lube job. He also has a guy that works for him and all he does is touches your bumper and he can diagnose your car. (inside joke with Brad and I)

You're such a dork Nick.

But yeah, I do have some awesome pictures here, but what Nick is too bashful to say, is that they are his shots!
