I'll be there Friday night sometime. Probably leave here about 5pm. I think it's about a 3 hr drive. I should be there by 8pm. I'm not a big early AM breakfast eater either. I work 2nd shift so breakfast time for me is at noon or something. Coffee is about all I require to get moving. Used to be coffee and a cigarette but it's been 102 days now since I've smoked a cigarette(shameless plug for my self achievement).
I'll keep watching the thread to see where the meeting place will be.

Breakfast on bluemound is probably going to be the best place to go. The restaurants there will have parking and everything right there. Another option would be water street in downtown milwaukee, but that brings about the parking issue. I'm still in for all this. Oh and Fritz, would it still be possible for me to get a ride with you? |

Ok lets shoot for breakfast on bluemound. I believe there is one of everything between the zoo and the lake so we should find something decent.
now what about lunch? speaking for myself The Zoo cantina or what ever it is called is not that great, in fact it is below that. I will pass on that place. There is an old country buffet somewhere near by could be an option, any other suggestions ?

For lunch there is plenty of stuff up along HWY 100, both fast food and better stuff.
@Sameer: yep, I can pick you up at MSOE. Just let me know where. We'll finalize the time as we nail down the initial meeting place/time. |

ok we can kind of play lunch by ear and stop some place on the way to next destination after the zoo.
I am going outside now to try to dye a backdrop. first attempt at this doing a 10x12 Muslin Cloth Two shades of royal blue. This morning I removed all the winter crud from our driveway so I have a nice clean surface to work on now. perhaps i will have a nice blue driveway when I am done also. ha!. from what I have read it doesnt stay on pavement very long one rain storm and it will be gone.

Bluemound road is about 15-20mins west of downtown Milwaukee. It's just a road with lots of stores, restaurants, etc on it. It just makes everything easier by having it all in the same place and easy parking too. Oh and there's a fairly nice camera store there too. |

for the sake of my marriage. I think we should stay away from that camera store. That is if you are talking about Mike C's I have spent too much time and money in that place. I think Wolf Cameras has a store right up the road also. Have never been there so It isn't on my wifes list of banned stores. And she doesn't know about my friends at the Camera Company in Madison yet either. hehe
We should also stay away from Arts Cameras Plus or I should anyway.
Another thing about Bluemound that Sam didnt mention is the zoo entrance is on that road...

Yeah, forgot about that. The zoo entrance is further east of all the other stuff I mentioned, but not far at all. And yes, all those camera stores are dangerous. While I'm not married, my bank account would kill me if I went there.
Oh and bump...

Well, I've had a small change in plans. It turns out my wife is going to be out of town on the weekend of the GTG, which means my original plan of getting up and coming early for the sunrise probably will not happen. What is more likely now is that me and Smartypants will get a more leisurely start and be over in time for the zoo portion of the trip and thereafter.
If, however, the combined persuasive powers of the thread readers can persuade Andrea to get up and take the plunge, maybe we can come together for sunrise. This is a 14 year old HS freshman. I don't think she's ever seen a sunrise, much less put a camera to her eye to shoot one.
C'mon folks, persuade Andrea to give it a shot! |

C'mon Andrea!! You can do it! It's not as crazy as it sounds... really ;-) |

I do believe this is one of those rare cases where a bit of ice cold water would provide you with the needed results.
If it helps. Smartypants, You could sleep in the car for the 90+ minute cruise, just snore loud so your dad stays awake.

Anyone want to take a guess on what the weather is going to be like? Judging by the extended weather planner I looked at today which only goes 9 days in advance on their predictions. I would estimate we have at least a 70% chance of no rain. Temps will be between 65-70 degrees. Hopefully we will have a calm blue sky day with a few fluffy clouds for texture.

Sure hope this weather sticks around now. How are we doing for attendence?
Should one of us send some PM;s out to the list on the first page of thread?
I doubt many if any of you will be on right now but just incase. It is time to start pounding this into stone so everyone knows where to go and when.
I will give this a bump later this afternoon

Not sure how long it will run. There has been talk about venturing to Holy Hill after the Zoo, Perhaps a Sunset someplace after that. But so far nothing has been confirmed. I am just wondering how many people are going to make it.
Were you going to ride with John? I guess it depends on what time he heads back. Hope you can make it. Was going to ask you about shooting at the Eagles Club... Originally posted by Elmakias: Turns out my senior prom is the same day

Me and Smartypants are definitely IN, though I'd give us only a 10% chance of making it for sunrise. ;-) |

I am Johnny come lately here, but barring work, I'll be there for the morning portion at least. For a no frills breakfast, can't beat George Webb's.

I think we will be gathering at the Zoo around that time. I am still trying to get my wife to come along but she is pretty firm on spending the day with the kids and getting some of her little jobs done. I prob should be doing that too, But thats what Sunday is for right? lol.

The weather prediction for the 12th is looking pretty good.

Low 50°F
I believe today or sooner is a good time to start organizing meeting places and times. I was just downtown on Tuesday for a field trip with my daughters class to the Betty Brinn Museum which stands just west of the Art Museum. I wasn't able to leave the pack and check out the parking etc. But I did manage to spock out a location for some nice sunrise photos.
The Zoo opens at 9 so if we head into the brookfield area after the sunrise perhaps set up a meet time of 745 for breakfast? then another meet time for 9AM at the Zoo entrance?
Zoo Prices.
Adult: $10.50
Junior (3 to 12): $7.50
Child (2 and under): FREE
Senior Citizens (60 and over): $9.50
From there we can decide how much time is left and what options are open for the next segment of the adventure.
