Hi Sander, what a nice shots from the ground, I guess. The colors are really impressive. Very good job, friend.

Thanks, we are surrounded by tulip fields at the moment and when you behave or are friendly to the owner you can photograph on them. It is a bit too flat to make landscapes, so this is a nice alternative I think. :)
Never been to Keukenhof actually.

Echt met coolness en kaas!

I'm guessing you used a polarizer?

LOL. Have you seen the movie "Girl with a Pearl Earring"? If not, go see it, it's good. :)

No, not a polarizing filter. Because of the height of the sun and it's power there goes a lot of light through the petals of the flowers. And because it is very dry at the moment, there is quite a bit of bounce light underneath the tulips from the light colored soil. The one against the sun was also metered well by the camera, it ignored the sun and kept the exposure for the rest of the shot ok.
But next to that the Shadow and Highlight tool with all settings manually tweaked, selective color layer again with all possible settings tweaked, plus a manual curve. I think the process I used is legal for Basic Editing. :)

I only hope to have something better for the Free Study challenge. :)

No, lot of trial and error. The camera is basically on the ground, so you can't see anything even if you had a flip LCD. But you got to get the focus and exposure right. Manual mode helps a bit. But for one I used the D70 with the 12-24 and for the other I used the little point and shoot Fuji F30. Doesn't matter much what kind of camera you use.
It was difficult to get the sun peeking over the red tulip though.
