Excellent Mary - thank you.

Anybody know if that can be made into an action that can be downloaded? :-)
Seriously, though, looks very handy. I'm used to cropping at "known" aspect ratios - 4x6, 5x7, etc. Having read through it kinda quickly, it seems to me you end up with a non-specific aspect ratio - is that the case? |

I downloaded the free action at the bottom of this page,
//www.shutterfreaks.com/Actions/RuleOfThirds.php
although they have another for a small bit of $$$. I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Not sure I needed all that paraphernalia to see where thirds are, but I learned a couple of million new tricks and bookmarked the page. Many thanks, Mary. |

Go through step by step - you define the aspect ratio of the picture you're working on before applying the - er - grid, which all sorts of marvellous arcanities enable you then to adjust further. It am high end stuff, methinks... |

Proportions can be controversial. An itinerant band of Irish philosophers, known as 'tinkers', risked having all their caravans pushed off the Hill of Howth after someone heard them saying that the neo-classical architecture in Dublin was a reflection of the 'rule o' turds'. |

I think I'll just go with the one I like (well, I gotta decide between two, actually) that the purists will hammer. Rule of thirds need not mean something has to be right on a hash mark somewhere. Sometimes it can mean there's something interesting in different blocks of the thirds, or a third line is used to define something. It'll be interesting.... |

Ok I am in for kitchen - and I really like it. I will be curious to see if I get a ton of DNMC's in it.

Writeheart - I am on the Motley Crew and I think we are looking for one or two members if you are interested. We did not rank that high lol. But it was fun to compete. |
Color, thanks, that would be cool. I know someone else was going to try to get a team together for Pentax users, but I haven't heard back from them and I don't want to miss out.
I would be interested, but I don't have the best scores. I wouldn't feel bad if your team didn't want me, but I would love it if they did.

Unusual setting. Take your kitchenware to somewhere it does not belong. Photograph it there. This is, of course, DPC - be careful of too busy!
Natural. Take a picture of people doing kitchen things in the kitchen using kitchen utensils.
Combine unusual with natural - have people doing things with kitchen utensils, but NOT in the kitchen.

Thank you ... I am entering one just under the wire ... If it does good it is ALL YOUR FAULT!

As far as the WPL-DPL issue, I am exactly where I belong (Team Suck) and proud of it.
I have my thirds entry entered, technically and portrait wise my best. But I will be hammered because of subject matter.

Hi Write - if your Pentax team does not pan out, I am sure we would love to have you on our team. Go post a comment to our thread and let everyone know you are interested:
Motley Crew Thread
No sense in worrying about scores - really, just go thru my profile and you will see I have my share of 3.0+ to 4.0+ scores. After all, I suck - remember? he he
We did have a ribbon winner on our team, and we were very happy for her!
It's really more important to have people on a team who want to participate. We have no way to control the scores, so why worry about it?
If you decide you want to join, let us know!

Edited for fat, spastic fingers.......I really have trouble today even typing. I got a killer dose of the flu that's had me flat on my back with a 101º temp. My doc gave me a shot......boy did THAT hurt!!!!!
I hate the way a microscopic bug can just take me out!
Edited again 'cause I hit quote instead of edit........I'm such a maroon!

I'm glad so many of you entered the kitchenware. Team Suck seems well represented.
I was going to add one, finally came up with an idea about 20 min ago, went to get my camera and it's gone!! Not only is my husband, WildShutter, beating me in landscape, but now he took my camera too. :-)
His profile image is definitely true, he is a turkey sometimes, but I love him anyway. He actually probably did me a huge favor, I don't think my kitchenware would have been that good anyway.

I used my light tent for the first time this evening with kitchenware. Light tents rock! OMG - all the light is even! There are no shadows! The white balance is naturally accurate! Holy Batman!
This is not to say my kitchenware entry is any good. Some may find it 'artsy'. Some may find it 'sucky.' Hopefully those who find it sucky will find it sucky in an artsy way. LOL.
I also got some really OOBIE photos of bubbles. I may have a brown contender going, ladies and gentlemen... |

I'm in Kitchenware - Last minute as usual. (where's that procrastination challenge when I need it?) I don't think DPC will love it - nothing special - except to me. That's practically a guarantee of a low score. But that's ok - I should have photographed straws - in honor of suckiness!

I'm getting a last second entry for kitchenware. It wasn't my first idea, nor probably as good as that one, though it's related. I'll share my real idea in my picture description, so you can see it next week sometime.
I have a fantastic shot for bubbles, one of my favorites, except it's a picture I took a couple of years ago. *sigh*

My kitchenware entry is going to Suck with Style!!
and hey... must we recruit Dipple-Wipple teams on the Team Suck thread? This is supposed to be a vacation from that, complete with hammock and cheap imported beer. |

Sorry, I just saw how cut-throat some of the newly recruiting teams were and I thought that I would much rather be on a team with some Team Suckers because you guys are so nice.
Forgive me for my interrupting your vacation, can I get you another beer?
