This might have been covered elsewhere, I'm not sure.
But in Basic Editing can you:
1. Use Selective Color?
2. Use the Convert to HDR thing with a single photo?

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

1. You can't use any method that makes use of an eye-dropper or other selection tool. If you use only sliders in the dialog and it's applied to the entire image, yes, it's legal.

2. This has been validated as legal in basic, as long as it's from a single photo. Using Photoshop to make several copies of the same photo and then merging them is not legal, to my understanding. It's only legal if the process involved a one-step process, as done in Photomatix.

OK...just to be sure
1. I would not be using the eye-dropper, only the sliders.
2. I would use only one image and have no intention of making copies.

So, to my understanding using these two tools as discussed will still qualify for Basic Editing.

selective color is fine - as long as it isn't used selectively - if that makes sense.

Yes, it does make sense.
Thanks, soup.

I have a question as well in regard to basic editing and maybe this was covered before, however, the rule states:

"That you may use RAW conversion software as long as the changes are made globally to a single file on one layer and do not create new features or effects in the process."

I am using Adobe Raw Converter. Is changing "shadows" in that program creating an "effect"? I guess I need clarification as to how the word effects is intended.

Thanks

Anything done on the first page of ACR is allowable. (Colors, tints, shadows, highlights, etc.) .. effects would be things like changing the Vignette settings on one of the subsequent tabs.

That makes sense, thanks for the response Jay
