i just picked up my first ever "nice" cologne. its Blue Label by Givenchy. I picked up a 100ml of it and i love it, my girlfriend came with me and smelled like over 20 bottles to find the right one, It was expensive but it was totally worth it!

so what kind does everyone else use?

My SO really likes Drakkar so that's what I wear. It's not to my taste but it's what I get every Christmas.

I don't really wear it a lot, but my friend got me some "Peter André's Insania", lol

When I actually buy perfume, I go for Tommy Girl.

I have a bottle of Old Spice cologne I got at least 8 years ago, and I think I've worn it twice. The last GF had no sense of smell, so it was sorta' pointless then, and on my own, I'm just not really into it.

I don't use cologne. It bothers my sinuses.

Even worse is when you end up in an enclosed space with someone who thinks it takes half a bottle to smell nice. I feel like standing up in a plane sometimes and screaming, "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. IF YOU WEAR PERFUME OR COLOGNE, THE PROPER APPLICATION IS A FEW DABS ON THE WRISTS AND NECK. IF YOU USE MORE YOU ARE OFFENDING THOSE AROUND YOU."

Sorry to interrupt the Rant -eug but you should never put fragrance on your neck, well not if you live anyplace the sun shines. It can cause discoloration of the skin, not a good look. As offensive as the overperfumed are I'm sure you wouldn't wish that on them.

Believe it or not...(I used it since well before I ever had a camera)

Photo by Lagerfeld (nice, rich and uninvading smell)

You know what is even more amazing (at least I didn't know till I went looking for a pic of the cologne on-line) Karl Lagerfeld was a pretty good photographer, there's a lot of books with his stuff out there.

I stand corrected, but my rant still stands. lol

Dreamer by Versache
Very Sexy (for men) by Victoria's Secret -- I have to be careful with this one... women's clothes tend to fall off when I wear it.
Jake by Holister
Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier
L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake

I am addicted to Bioré cleansing cloths & occasionally Hilfiger tommy for private space. As for strong scents I agree with _eug, they only might be useful for moviestars or teenagers. However, I have been in some environmental art situations where scent has been used effectively.

I find it fascinating that it's mostly men weighing in here, even though the original question was directed to both cologne and perfume ;-)

It's a beautiful Spring Saturday afternoon. The women have better things to do besides be online. ;)

Spiced Green Tea - Elizabeth Arden (very light, spicy - Mostly in Summer)
Easter Lilly - Bermuda Perfumery (My mother says I smell like a funeral when I wear this, but I love it. I wear this in the dark months to brighten my mood. It smells like early summer to me.)

Those are my everday scents.

Special occasions I wear:

Mambo - Elizabeth Taylor (deep and sultry) or
Euphoria - Calvin Klien (Smells like candy)

Husbands everday is BLV - BLVgari (clean and soapy), special occasion Envy - Gucci (sultry) or Safari - Ralph Loren (exotic, spicy).

Or, he mixes his own personal cologne - a mix of Dragonsblood essential oil, lime and leather.

Ok, for the record...fragrance is an accessory, not the whole ensemble and you should have a proper wardrobe of scents!~ Proper placement and usage of fragrance only adds to the presentation. (See Eug's rant! :P )ALSO...test it before you buy it! What it smells like in the bottle may NOT be what it smells like on you and two people wearing the same scent, may smell differently. Your body chemistry determines. (Was a Fragrance Model in college.)

Daytime - lighter stuff
Blue - Calvin Klein
Woman in Yellow - Anthropologie Store brand)
Two scents I purchased in Vegas...one Gardenia based, the other Jasmin
Euphoria - Calvin Klein
Izzy Miyaki - Izzy Miyaki

Eves - heavier/muskier
Mademoiselle - Coco Chanel
Versace - Versace
Paloma Picasso - Paloma Picasso (great in the fall/winter months)
Tentations - Paloma Picasso

Note: DAB...never rub. You'll heat the ingred's and change the chemistry, thus the scent. :P Go forth and smell good!! LOL!
