Thanks. Have there been any problems with the plastic mounts? I understand the "G" lenses have them.

Can't say I know the answer to that one.

As a tribute to Bob, I think it would be nice if you posted the last picture he took prior to be shipped off to the camera hospital.

After almost a month Bob comes home tomorrow, well as long as UPS doesn't loose him!
I will be so glad to get him back, this has sucked, and not cheap either.

OK, finally Bob is back home, in the end it was close to a $800 mistake to fix the camera and lens but what can you do except move on. On the upside it seems they gave me a new camera. The serial number is the same but it's not the same camera, there isn't a mark on it anywhere including the CF slot where I know there were wear marks from sliding the card in and out. I also know there was damage to the bottom of the camera were the serial number tag is placed. The numbering starts out a 100 and it even has that new camera smell :).

If any part of the case was damaged they might have replaced the case. Which they would have had to pop the serial plate. If the camera records anything as to actuations then that right there will tell you wether or not its new.

Its not uncommon but on the otherside its cheaper to pop the plate and send u a new camera.

The only way I know to see the number of exposers is the file numbering, but that can be rest. I am sure they could, or might have, replaced enough parts to make it look like new, but hey I think I have a new camera so don't burst my bubble!! :)

So if it is new, is it Bob Jr. or still Bob?

Well the bubble might need to be burst to avoid dissapointment when an older part of the hardware fails from age and your like but its NEW.

Hard to tell lol enjoy.

Bob Ver. 2.00

I just looked at the EXIF data and I had added my name and phone number which is still there, maybe not new.

Very good point, at least I don't have to worry about calling him Bob Ver 2.00, it's back to plane old Bob.

Deciphered the pic glyph : It says "NO PHOTOS"
Then in fine print " enforced by medicine man spell"

At least you are back shooting, but not cheap for the fix. I broke an old lens of mine last week, a simple 24/120 D. My bag rolled out of the back of an suv, and it popped the objective lens almost off. I just pressed it back on, and it seems ok, so maybe it isn't too serious.

Happy to hear that you didn't get damaged like the camera did. Good to hear that you are coming to Florida, maybe we can meet someday at a DPC GTG.
