The only problem is if you don't have a wired or wireless remote. Then you have to hold your finger on the shutter button. That doesn't work too well for the old hand and shaking the camera.

or you can use the self timer! :0)

So how about a quick show of hands for who we should expect?

I'm thinking five at the moment:

wonderbread
kirbic
waz
sammigurl
myself

Who am I missing?
04/07/2007 02:32:21 PM · #128
Yup I am there! See you all soon!

I just found out I can't go... I'm sorry.
My sister's MS is really acting up, and I have to go over to her house in Mesa to help her out with it.

I would have loved to come. =(
Maybe another day, sorry.

Laura, don't bother to call, it's okay--I'll be at my sister's house anyway.
I'm sorry, everyone. You all have fun, and post lots and lots of pictures for me!

We missed you Samantha. It was a great time guys. I had a blast! Nicer people couldn't be found in Phoenix!

I'll have to post pics later in the week after I get home.

Here is the good Doc in his element with his new baby the 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM

He is hard to get a shot of. He is crafty and fast!

Just wanted to touch base and say that I had a great time... Jason & Eric, it was great to meet both of you, and Laura, of course it's always a pleasure to go shooting! Samantha, I'm sorry you couldn't make it. Hopefully next time!
I'm in computer withdrawal, no laptop, and infrequent 'net access... occasionally, that's not a bad thing. I will have to forego posting any pics until I'm back home the middle of next week. For Jason, that may be a good thing! ;-)

I knew it was coming sooner or later...
04/12/2007 06:51:20 PM · #137
hehe me too...

I had so much fun guys! To tell you the truth, I haven't had time to barely look at my images!! (well, I did get to a few of those HDR ones!) I was waiting to respond to this thread hoping someone would start asking about me... (did those guys chop her up into little peices or what?)
*sigh* nobody cares :0P

Samantha, call me and we'll go do something together. I hope your sister is feeling better. Maybe I'll drag you up to Pinetop this summer for a bit!

ok, well it's about time I got around to this but here are a few from our night of fun :0)

It looks like it would have been a lot of fun, I really wish I could have gone.
My sister is doing better for he moment, thank you for asking--and I'll be sure to give you a call, Laura, I just have to remember to!

At long last, back home from PHX and back to the 'pooter. Here are a few from the GTG:

As promised, the dreaded backpack photo(s) have finally surfaced!

Here are three more from my stop at Canyon De Chelly, near four corners in NE Arizona:

I'm processing like crazy, and will be posting some panos that I did on the trip, but those will be externally hosted since 800px won't do them justice.

Yes, I was waiting for that. I'll have people know that backpack was a special design from Carl Zeiss!

Isn't this the same setup you used for those pictures from the men's bathroom that you posted in one of those alt. newsgroup sites?

I was struck by how little blooming vegetation I've seen in your guy's images, including Eric's fine blue ribbon winner. Congrats again to him!

As an aside, here is a not particularly good picture taken very close to your location almost exactly two years earlier to the day before your GTG:

Big difference, huh? I took thousands of pictures that spring and post processed very few because I was so disappointed with my inability to capture that incredible spring's wildflower display in a way that would do it justice.
04/19/2007 06:45:36 PM · #145
Thanks Steve! And yeah there was nothing blooming at all.
04/19/2007 07:55:29 PM · #146
Yep, different world from 2005. A few blooms here and there; some signs of recent water, but minimal. Some grasses in the washes at water retention points, the ocotillos were green and blooming, but the seem to need next to nothing... there was a small, purple flower that I saw occasionally in South Mountain Park that was in bloom in the early mornings.

Here are three panos that I shot on the AZ trip. I've uploaded them in very large size, so they are watermarked. Check out the "original" size, and recognize that these have been reduced from two to four times (the largest is 12,000px long by 4600px high)

Nice Panos, Fritz!!!! I did not go over them full sized with a fine toothed comb but they look great... color, brightness and stitches look seamless. Nice job.

What Pano software you using these days? I'm into Hugin.

Yeah Fritz those are very nice!

Here are a few more of mine.
