otter cove

This is what we'll be doing; spending a weekend here in May.
We stayed there a couple years ago and LOVED it. The property used to be a fish-processor and the cottage was the giant freezer!
There's now a garden on the roof where they grow strawberries to make the jam they leave us for breakfast. In season, you can hear deer on the roof eating the fruit. (The building is tucked right against the hillside.)

eta; ACK! He just came over as I was typing my post and saw the title of the thread.... I got a poke in the ribs and a tickling for that!

one year my wife and I were at my sisters - talking about our plans for the next couple of days. All of a sudden I said "Hey, I think we were married around this time" to which she said "I think it was today!". We both looked across the room at each other and said in unison "well happy anniversary then" and went on with our planning.

My sister was floored! She's big on tradition.

We are always forgetting - we try to celebrate our relationship enough the rest of the year that the "one day" doesn't put the whole thing in the balance.

Your story is funnier - if I showed up to a present I'd wonder what was broken - LOL

Great for you two for having fun with it!

Forgot what? j/k

It's the "in what year" that gives me the problem.

exactly. For me the same problem, can not remember which year we got married. I am always confused about it.

7th april I first met my wife, so this 7th april I bought cake and some stuff she likes.

Awwww, now THAT is sweet! :) I must admit, even *I* can't remember just what day we met, though I do know it was late September. Then again, I was so drunk that night that I recall VERY little of it, only that he had the most gorgeous blue eyes... (his eyes are brown.)

(good day too, Apr.7... my b'day)

edit cuz my dear daughter pointed out I'm dyslexic and reversed the eye-colour thing..... sighhh

Neither my husband nor I have an easy time remembering our anniversary. We started dating 13 years ago, so we never can remember the actual wedding date, because to us it was finalizing something we already knew would happen. My best fiend always reminds me of the day. This year we had a huge evening planned, we were going out for a wonderful meal, then a stay in a nice hotel. That also happened to be the day Springfield, Mo. was hit by an extremely severe ice storm. We cancelled our plans and stayed up till 3am listening to trees fall and transformers explode. We ended up with fairly minimal damage despite the trees on our roof. The funny part is that it was our fifth wedding anniversary and the symbol for it is wood. Now, I'll never forget the day.

O, remember the time too, it was around 10:30 in the morning.

usually i remember all the important things by time/date and year. But this one marriage year thing get me confused (there are few reasons for it, can not write long arguement).

I hardly forget any of my friends birthdays too. There are many friends I have, I would not write whole year but on their bday, they will get a happy bday note (last 10 years I do not think I forgot to wish any of my friend).

My wife and I always get the year mixed up too but that could be cause we were both in 15yr marriages before and so we tend to forget the little bit we've been married. I always have to think, ok you met in July 01 and dated for awhile, had the house built in 03 soooo Ok it was 2003! lol

My first marriage (we eloped) we were going to go camping for our honeymoon (Colorado mountains) but it rained for like 3 days before and part of the day of so there were mud slides blocking a lot of the mountain roads. We ended up getting a hotel room and while I was putting a CD on (mood music) and getting us some champagane she fell asleep! lol Trust me it didn't take long for me to follow. The next morning as we were driving out she decided she wanted to try the champagane so she grabbed the bottle, put it to her lips and lifted the bottle...unfortuntely warm champagane (well any really) doesn't like to be shook, so it promptly exploded out of her mouth all over the dash and windshield lol. We spent the next night in her parents basement in a pop up tent.

The second wasn't as eventful but was wonderful. We had the parents and some family and friends there and got married in front of Cataract Falls in Gatlinburg, TN. Her daughter was her maiden of honor so it was so sweet and special.

I have loads of things piled around a few dates, so if I manage to remember them, I knock off loads of stuff very quickly.

We got engaged on my Dad's birthday (July 7). Hadn't thought about it, but he turns 70 this year, on 7/7/7. :)

Our anniversary is my grandfather's birthday (July 3). My older daughter was born the day after our 4th anniversary.

Meanwhile, good friends got married on my birthday and their second son was born the day after my wife's birthday. And my younger daughter was born 3 days before my birthday.

Anyway, BeeCee, pretty cool to have your birthday and your anniversary so close together. Happy anniversary! :)
