Looking for some experinces and info please guys.

I am going to be going to Cyprus later this year and will be photographing a friends wedding out there. (Really excited about this - can't wait!).

I'll be taking my 350D and I'll also have a 30D by then. I would prefer to take both bodies plus a lens on each in my hand luggage. Should this cause me any probs?

Second question - Would I be better sticking them in my Lowepro rucksack (Which is a small one and will be fine for hand luggage), or should I pad out an aluminium case that I have which I THINK is within the size limits for carry-on?
I am concerned about the weight and that the airline may insist on it going into the hold?

Thanks,
AL.

I took my 300D and 4 lenses on as hand-luggage when I flew to the states, in a rucksack. They didn't even bat an eyelid. Might be a different story with a metal case though, I'm not sure.

I just did a UK trip too and from the US. Just by way of insurance, I bought a Pelican case thinking I might be forced to check the bag. I wasn't. But perhaps don't put items like Pocket Wizards or other radio control devices in there.

I have never had any trouble wherever i flew. I used to carry 1 camera around my neck and have the other in my rucksack along with my laptop(could be a problem these days) and all my lenses etc.

It's getting tighter but I think if you allow them to have a look through if they ask you will be fine.

I think it's the ones who shout at them about taking off their shoes and stuff that get all the hassle.. Recently at Heathrow there was a terrorist scare and I was taking my wife to the airport that time and people were STILL taking food drink mobile phones into the departure lounge and being stopped and refused entry (obviously)

Common sense good manners, goes a long way.

Bon Voyage

Thanks for the replies all - General concencus is that I should be fine then!
I didn't think about putting one round my neck - that will save a bit of weight.

I didn't think they were stopping you taking mobiles? Mine never leaves my side!

We've got the Pelicase 1510, since it's just under the carry-on limits for most airlines, plus it's strong enough to survive in the hold should they moan at you. The one thing you really need to watch is the weight, as most airlines are getting fussier about sticking to a 6kg (or similar) limit, so you may need to argue the ££££'s of equipment angle to persuade them to allow it as carry-on. Oh, and most camera insurance policies will only cover travel if they're stored in a (locked) hardcase...

Hmm - That is nice, but I don't have £170+ budget to buy one!
Maybe a future purchase, but I need to use one of the items I have for now...

I'll bear in mind the "Locked Metal Case" for insurance purposes too. Have to check that out when I buy a policy.

That was at the time when Heathrow was on red alert because of terrorists... normal times it is fine to take your mobile with you.. it was just at THAT time only.. high alert...

Be aware that most airlines don't cover lose of any electronic or photographic items that may be lost. So, if your equipment goes in the hold and is lost, the airline won't cover it. So sorry, they say.

Mine goes in carry on and stays with me. I've had lost baggage.

I just returned from a trip to the UK. The two of us that took camera gear used combo backpacks - the kind that has places for your personal gear on top and camera gear on bottom. These were great because, some airlines ONLY ALLOW ONE CARRY ONE. Make sure you check this out before you go or something you didn't plan to check will have to be checked.
