I did a quick search of the forums and can't find this addressed anywhere... What is the current take on posting your current challenge entry to your Flickr account?
Today as I was uploading images to my Flickr account, I saw an image I liked - I clicked thru to the owners gallery and thought "hey, I recognize that name...", wondered if it was coincidence and dismissed the thought. Then later this morning I start browsing thru some of the current challenge entries for voting and I see an image that was posted to the same Flickr account.
I'm not trying to make waves, but if voting is generally anonymous, what are people opinions on posting your current entry to your public gallery - isn't that the same as saying "here is what I entered?" |

There is no rule against it and as long as it isn't posted here or linked here during voting I personally don't see a problem with it.

You're supposed to keep it anonymous...so I, personally, wouldn't post anything up of mine while voting was going on. But I'm the type of person that I think if people knew something was my entry, they'd vote down on it...there are those that some people would vote up.
Either way, I wouldn't do it just because someone else is doing it. Keep your anonymity.

I post my entries in several places outside DPC, but never identify them as such. I have a few DPC friends in those places, and I make sure they know that I expect them to skip voting on any images of mine that they may recognize. I've tried withholding images until after voting and found that it makes no difference in the score received.

I do it all the time. flickr and dpc are separate sites. I don't think it matters. If people are cross members...... I don't see anything wrong with it. |

Ok, I just wondered about the anonymity aspects - makes sense to me. |

I recognize people sometimes but I still vote. I call them as I see them. |

Some people have a style of image that makes them automatically recognizable. Anonymity is gone in that case. People just need to be grown up about these things and vote the image not the person. Imagine trying to keep the anonymity in the self-portrait challenges. hehe |

I always wait to post mine. Sometimes all I've shot on a day is my challenge entry, and I'm doing that photo-a-day project. If anyone was watching my flickr account, they'd be able to tell what day I took my challenge entries and what day the challenges ended - I save that day and every day after so I can upload them later and not get them out of order. A lot of folks don't wait, and that's fine - I just really like the anonymity of the thing and don't want to risk it.

I post images here and on several other competition sites. No big deal. DPC isn't the only thing on the Internet.
