I took some photos for a company and part of the deal was that I would give them the rights to the photos...

Problem is, I've look ALL over the net and can't find one...does anyone have any idea where I can find one? All I can dig up are model releases.

Thanks for you help.

I have a property release from iStockPhoto. You are welcome to look at it. Maybe you can craft you own using it as a base. (I can't say copy it and change the name of the company because that would be wrong.)

I will email it to the address on your profile.

Which rights are they requesting and are they compensating you for those rights. Rights include display, reproduction, preparing derivatives, and distribution. You can sell them one or more, but the more they want the more it should cost because you're losing potential income from future use.

You won't find a release for this. You just type up a statement declaring that you are assigning these rights to someone else. Be specific about what you are assigning.

Seems to me you are not talking about a release -- permission for you the photographer to exploit the pictures -- but a limited copyright license for them to use the photos.

As noted, such a contract should specify the allowed uses and compensation.

Be careful, when you say you took them "for a company" the conditions of your deal at that time could make the photos a "work for hire" and the company may already own all rights/copyright in the photos.

That's the word I was looking for. Damn it's only Tuesday...

thanks for all the replies.

The iStock one that Tony sent is great.

And I did sell them all the rights and everything about the photo...but don't worry, I was compensated very well :)

Thanks again everyone.
