| I'm new to lighting with anything other than available light. It seems like alien bees are a pretty popular option. I'm looking for something to be mainly used on location, as I don't really have a place I can set up a studio just yet. So portable power is a necessity. Is there a standard that everyone here uses? Like X brand generator and X brand lights are the "Kleenex" of lighting setups for location.. Maybe the best thing I could use would be for someone to point me to some resources where I can learn about this type of lighting and what equipment options are out there. |

| If you're new to lighting, and looking for lighting on location, you might look at the Lighting 101 section of the excellent strobist blog. David makes those portable strobes sing. |
