I'm confused as to which of the spyder2 calibration systems would best meet my needs. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is between spyder2 express and spyder2 suite, except for the big difference in price. My problem is that my pictures look perfectly fine on my screen, but when I print them out, the colors are dull and lacking in luminosity. When I have them printed by a lab, they end up looking as good as they do on my screen. Can someone advise me as to which of the two software tools that I mentioned would best meet my needs, or if I have a different issue altogether? Thanks!

While I wouldn't dissuade you from getting calibration hardware because a calibrated monitor is important, the problem is more likely in your color management process.

If you photos look good on your screen and they print up fine at the Photo lab, isn't it likely that it's your printer at fault?

So it looks like a calibration software is not really what I need to solve the problem at hand then. I'm ordering a new Epson printer today, so maybe I'll just wait to get that, and then see how the photos turn out with a new printing system in place. Thanks!

I would guess that calibration software / hardware is a waste of money for more most people who aren't doing professional work. If your colors a WAY off, I'm guessing color management is an issue - not calibration.

You just need a workflow and color profiles that you use on all devices and software that work for you. Are you printing for Photoshop? If so, try placing the photo in some other apps to see if you get different results.

Typically people without a color management workflow will have different set-ups in diffeent apps. If you use Adobe Bridge, it has the capability to set up color management of all Adobe Apps to be consistant (at least theoretically).

Depends on if you need to do just one moniter, Two Moniters and a printer. Or two moniters printer scanner and just about anything that can be calibrated.

its a colour profile issue. you need to find out what profile your printer is using, and adjust your file before printing accordingly.
