Anybody have any idea where I can get a longer USB cable for my camera? Can I make one?

You can buy USB cables of any length up to the spec max (10 feet? 100 feet? I can't recall).

Hubin them works okay. Do not try to extend or make a longer then spec USB cable. 5 meters is the longest past that USB controllers are not designed to deal with the problems that longer cables create. Unlike networking equipment.

Not sure how far u can get away with an unpowered extension. But at some point there is signal loss.
