I bought my D200 back when the MC-30 release cord was backordered for months, so I got a cheapy release cable on eBay. I̢۪ve noticed the LCD will not come on for either review or even when the menu button is pushed when the cable is connected. Unplug the cable and everything is fine. Can anyone with the MC-30 tell me if it does the same with the Nikon cord?

lcd works just fine with the mc-30

sounds like they have shorted the focus part and only trigger the shutter

Thought you might have been right, as I very seldom use AF especially with the release. But I just tested it and the AF works as it should with the half press on the release. I guess I need to buy a MC-30 to make sure that it is not my camera.
