... in my bedroom. I shot at it with some insect spray, but I can't find the sucker and it could be anywhere. So here I sit in the middle of the night, reading thread after thread.

I thought I would amuse y'all with this.

Earlier today, there was a sidewinder on the path as I was coming home. I wonder if Mother Nature is trying to tell me something.

Cool, a scorpion! We don't have nasties like them (or snakes) down here. It's nice being safe but it makes things like scorpions all the more intersting.

You know, I did consider getting out my black light. Scorpions show up under it.

Well, it's 2 AM. I'm going to go for it and hit the sack. If I'm not back in eight hours, send the search party.

Here's a tip if you still haven't caught the bugger: A black light could help you find it. It might be hard to find with a normal flashlight or whatever, but a blacklight will make them glow nicely. Get a bucket and some tongs to catch it and maybe release it back into the desert. Good luck!

Wow - they must be out in force! Yesterday morning, for the very first time in 30 years, we found a scorpion in our kitchen. My dog narrowly missed getting stung by it, and my son managed to kill it. But it sure makes me nervous - can't help but feel if there's one, there are others here. I keep looking around, worried I'll step on one in my bare feet. Hope you got some sleep. They're so creepy, aren't they?

They're not insects I don't think, like spiders they are arachnids.

You're right.

Ah - I live to see another day.

No more scorpion sightings. The little bugger could be anywhere by now... resting comfortably under my bed or back out in the desert. I don't mind them at all when they're outside, but inside... not so much fun. And they are impervious to any attempts to kill them. You practically have to decapitate a scorpion to make it stop living - it's all the amour. And yes, they belong to the family of arachnids. Not suitable for the Insect challenge - maybe the Things That Give You the Whim-Whams challenge.
