Weather is beginning to not look so good again. Is everyone still going to make it, my little one is feeling under the weather, so if I can come it may be by myself at this point as long as he doesnt get too sick. Too bad the GTG isnt for sunday its going to be sunny and warm instead of rain/snow and windy!

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but I could do sunday instead of saturday.

That being said, I still plan on being there saturday, rain or shine. Unless it's 20 below and snowing or something crazy.

But we'll likely be staying with my in-laws (in the area) so I could be flexible as to saturday or sunday.

Maybe I can PM everyone and see if they can do a Sunday thing, I really want to shoot with you folks, But I'd also like to not have to do it in crappy weather without my family! Let me know what everyone is thinking. You think we should PM everyone and find out what the consensus is?

Yeah, it couldn't hurt. Possibly everyone is available sunday--and then why are we worrying? Won't know unless we ask :-) I'd much rather shoot in the sun than in the cold and rain!

I sent PM's to those that have been confirmed. It looks like Sunday will be a better day for us as far as the weather goes. I'm going to tentatively plan to be there sunday morning then around 10 at the south entrance. If no one can make sunday and saturday is a better day then we will work through all of that.

Bring your walking shoes, this place is huge. As a matter of fact its going to be partly impossible to walk the entire thing in one day.

If I remember right, St.Louis Zoo is second only to San Diego Zoo in size.

This sounds good to me i cant make it Sat. But think i can make it on Sunday. Where are you going to meet? and are tripods allowed or do you need one. I have never shot at a zoo so dont know what to expect.

You can bring your tripod, the zoo is free to get into. I usually just bring along a monopod, I'm not much of a tripod person. Glad to know you will be able to make it on Sunday. We always come in the South entrance and we can meet just inside there is a nice place to gather by the water just inside.

Here is a cool deal for locals interested, I just found this on the web, and it looked interesting enough to post. Gen. Admission is only 4 bucks.

Mar. 1 through Apr. 22
âA Shaw Nature Reserve Experience.â One-to-one mapping photography exhibition by Ronald Engemann, a study of times and places at actual size. Artistically mapped images are digital photographs of ground locations taken at the Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray Summit, documented by a Global Positioning System (GPS). 9 to 5 p.m. Ridgway Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Included with Garden admission or membership.

Also, I think that we (wife, and I) are going to be leaving the Zoo at 3:00p.m. for lunch and St.Louis Botanical Gardens, and then at 6:00pm heading down to the riverfront for dinner and to photograph the arch. Any accompanying parties are welcomed. However, just for a quick note, I wont be photographing the standard shot of the arch, I'm going in search of a cityscape/sunset shot on the Illinois side (looking back towards the west). I think I found a cool spot, and cant wait to check it out.

As noted on the newly revised title due to the rain/snow/wind forecasted for saturday we are going to move the GTG to sunday morning. I hope this meets everyones schedule and I'm terribly sorry if it doesnt. I am looking forward to meeting/shooting with everyone that can attend.

Sunday approx 10am South entrance just inside by the water.

I am in. Do we need a flash? I would like to carry as little as possible.

I'm bringing 3 lens a monopod, camera body and a ringflash. I'm not bringing my regular flash. Alot of what I like to shoot indoors will be macro's so I dont use a regular flash and lightsphere setup much. Depending on how/what you like to shoot you may need a flash, but personally I never use a regular flash at the zoo.
