There's got to be an easy way to post a thumbnail in the Photographer's Comments section on an image page, but I can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone give me some simple instructions? :) |

Hit the button in your post for doing thumbnails.
[ thumb]123456[ /thumb] removes the spaces and put the image number inbetween

Ugh! I just can't seem to figure this out. I know that I said I need simple instruction, but I guess I need the "posting thumbnails for dummies" version. "Hit the button in your post for doing thumbnails" just doesn't make any sense to me in terms of what I'm trying to do. I have an image in my portfolio that I would like to link to another image under the Photographer's Comments section. I have no problem posting thumbnails to forum threads, I just can't seem to post them in any other places. Can anyone clarify this in dummy terms? *sigh* |

There's no button in photographer's comments.
Look at the image whose thumbnail you want to use.
For example, this one:
[thumb]//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=485167[/thumb]
Look at the URL - it ends in a number. You want to copy that number.
In your comments, type this, but replace () with [] - I can't enter the actual exact code because then the forum will try to display a thumbnail instead of the code itself:
(thumb)485167(/thumb)
Replace:
( with [
) with ]
485167 with the number from your picture.
When you're in the forums, the second icon from the right just above the box where you type your message looks like two little rectangles. Clicking that and pasting in the number will insert exactly that code into your post.

In your regular comment section, type [thumbnail]12345 [/thumbnail]
That gives you the same result as if you DID have the button that we use in here :)
Make sure you have no spaces, and insert the picture # where I have 12345.
eta; Okay, I'm toooooo slow! :D

Sheila, you gotta then say to replace "thumbnail" with "thumb" - the whole word doesn't work.

Thanks. I'm going to try it again in the morning...it's getting too late now and I'm probably not thinking clearly. :/ |

Duhhh, that was a TOTAL brainfart on my part, sorry!!
(I'm using the excuse that hitting 50 caused instant senility :P )

Erin, I just remembered something that helped me when I was having the same problem. The code works here, just as if you'd used the little button up top, so practice in a comment box here in the thread, then check "preview" to see if it worked. It's a lot easier than going back and forth in your portfolio if it doesn't. :)
