i just noticed this new statistic and can see some merit to it (especially when trying to tell whether or not somebody who just gave you a crappy comment has spent any time at dpc viewing images), BUT
as far as a USEFUL improvement that could help people get a handle on strong challenge entries, i maintain that the count of comments during the challenge would really be a good idea--and really shouldn't take as much effort to code or require any more overhead than this newly added statistic.
it really would be nice to be able to see how many comments an image generated during a challenge, as opposed to only seeing them comingled with all the congratulatory pile-on comments that come afterwards...

Would that count come with a guarantee of post-challenge congratulatory pile-on comments? ;)

sometimes you get 'em, sometimes you don't ;-)
the thing is, the in-challenge comment count is one of the best barometers as to whether or not an image connects with the voters--regardless of the final score. |

Right. I agree with you. :) Just giving you a bit of grief.
I'd like it just for me on my own shots. I note which shots get lots of comments during the challenge, and it'd be nice to sort on that instead of total comments. |
