It shouldn't be a problem as long as you buy with authorized dealers. Prices will vary from place to place for different reasons. In many instances you can even make valid your warranty in a different country or it might come with and international warranty already.
In terms of settings or properties as long as you make sure it works with the different color systems (PAL, NTSC), it has your language included and is compatible with the different power inputs (100-240v 50/60hz)you are good to go.
ETA: Photo stuff is almost double priced in the UK or Mexico compared to the USA. So now I am loving B&H for a couple of months.

We should inundate them with phone calls and fake orders. |

I've done this with one of my lenses, it is imported into the Netherlands and lacks the Dutch papers that all my other Nikon lenses came with. This means that I cannot go directly to Nikon NL for warranty issues. I cannot go to another Nikon dealer to have my lens sent to Nikon. I can go to Nikon NL, but I have to pay for the repairs myself.
The warranty for this lens has to go via the dealer I bought it from, Nikon NL is not involved. So I have to sent it to that dealer and they either give me a new one or they sent it to the country where they got it from. It depends on the dealer what will happen. It depends on you if you trust them to do the right thing and not to go bankrupt tomorrow. In this case I trust that company, but I would trust few others.

I'd love to jump on this, but I keep hearing "If it's too good to be true..." running through my head. I'm going to try calling them tomorrow to verify price, availability and the reason why they are priced way below expectations.
What do you think about these sites? |
Both seem to be over $800 now - They are prob grey imports.

They have a 9.10 out of 10 on resellerratings.com. The price looks about right for a body-only, which it is, so keep in mind you'll have to throw down for some lenses on top of that.

Why would you pay $1500 at Ritz when you can have it in 2 days from B&H for $1,339.95?
All this is besides the point unless the point is "You can't do any better than going to B&H." |

Interestingly, I'm out of town and looked at this thread without logging in as a member. Guess who is an advertizer on this site? Broadway Photo. I know the ad money is green, but I think in the interest of the reputation of DPC, they should not accept ads from known scam artists like Broadway Photo. If the DPC management who accepts ads didn't know about these people (and I use the term "people" loosely) they should read the feedback posted on this thread, research for themselves, understand who they are indirectly promoting, and should pull the ads now.

Unfortunately, I believe the ads in question are Google Ads which Langdon has no control over. :/ |

I once did a reverse lookup of the phone provider by the phone numbers on some of these trashy sites (because I can :P ), and most of them use a small local NYC telecom company that provides call-center type services for small companies.
See, what happens is (and this is WAY more common in the customer service industry than you might think) you call a given local or toll-free number, and you get routed to so-and-so call center, and their system knows by what number you called what to pop up on the CSR's computer screen, and they just read whatever is in front of them. It'll even pop up payment and inventory interfaces for them so you never know even when getting a live person if that live person is at the shop or not.

I was lied to multiple times, recieved awful customer assistance, and was refused everytime I asked to speak with a manager. I went through Broadway photo, I thought they were reputable, guess I was wrong. Oh, and the finish price of what I actually recieved, I didn't save any money, I could have went to my local Ritz and picked it up without the hassle. |
I've used Abes of Maine twice for very good prices on lenses -- my Canon 70-200 F4L and my Canon 24-70 F2.8L. I got them much cheaper than in stores and they arrived quite quickly. I see no indication that they are not the same lenses I would have received had I purchased them in a store in the U.S. |
