Hey guys,
in the studio, the Tamron is perfect. The photos always come out tacksharp.
But when I shoot at location, and stand further away from the subject, I have problems with the focus. It seems like the focus is behind the subject.
Does anyone have the same problems? And, what can I do about it? |

| If it's a new lens the no-brainer would be to exchange it. If it isn't then I would photograph a contrasty scene from various distances using a tripod and shutter release to see if there is a problem and where. If there is then contact Tamron and inquire about getting it serviced. |

Do you focus and recompose?
//visual-vacations.com/Photography/focus-recompose_sucks.htm
This can do it if you're close than about 15 feet ot the subject. Use the focus point nearest their eye or the part you want in focus instead.
Don't focus on the edge of the person, like a shoulder or side of the head or a hat as the edge may have great contrast(a good thing for focus), but one surface is way way behind the other so the camera has to choose one or the other and often makes a bad choice.

I have a problem where I have to zoom in to full zoom, focus, and then zoom out. If I focus in wide angle, it doesn't focus properly..
However, this isn't lens specific, as it happens with all my zoom lenses. Have you tested other lenses? Could be a camera problem like mine. (Unfortunately, my camera is both out of warranty and has been physically banged around, and I can't afford an alignment right now.. hehe). Worth checking into though. |
