My new toy arrived today, the Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro MF. Have been on call tonight so only got 5 mins to play with it - can't wait for the weekend and hopefully some decent light as my ringlight flash and macro rail are on 'loan' at the moment. Hopefully this babe will get me clicking again )- its a whole new world out there now :)

Lucky you, now you are well equiped for the insect challenge. I have to be happy with a macro filter on my normal lens. Not as good as what I would like.

from what i've heard that thing is really hard to use. Hope you get a good handle on it for the challenge!

Yup, hence the steep learning curve! TBO if I get a decent shot for the challenge (if an insect even appears)it'll be more by luck than judgement ;) I'm meant to be travelling South at the weekend to get some work done on ickle Brabus but the engineer is ill so may just sit in the garden waiting lol.

The thing is Yanko, I can buy quality but it doesn't mean I shoot quality - now, in your hands I'd be drooling ;)

*edited to say, "if the lens was in your hands!"
