Soothers, Anticol and Throaties. Don't like those medicated lozenges like Cepacol, they seem to make it worse.
Oh, and paracetamol helps too. |

Deep gargle with warm salt water. Don't swallow.
then drink either a warm snifter of Gran Mariner, or Peppermint Schnaaps, or Jack Daniels.
I know your just a kid, but, c'mon, your smarter than most kids.

Yeah, I know what you mean. You can try some Echinacea tabs. I think it's more of a preventative thing, but it can't hurt to stop it getting worse...?
edit for spelling, thanks ladyhawk22 :)

Hot tea with lemon and honey. Helps to coat and soothe the throat if you're looking for a non-medicinal assist :-) I'll second the Echinacea as well. Good stuff. Always seem to get over illnesses a bit quicker when I take it--or if I take it on the first day of a cold, it really knocks the cold back. |

Here is a suggestion based on experience:
When someone has a sore throat, they swallow more than normal, sometimes even to check whether or not it is still sore. At all costs, try to resist the urge to swallow excessively....because if you are swallowing more than normal, your throat will be become sore due to the muscular motion itself. So if you are sick already, it multiplies the effect. Make sense?
It is like if you start thinking about each breath you take...it starts to be weird and you consciously think about each breath. It is an automatic action, but once your mind becomes attached to it, it can become psychosomatic.
But more than anything, know it will simply take time and run its course. Sorry about your pain.
